Item was a refurbished purchase as a Christmas gift, recipient didn’t receive the item until after the window of return which I didn’t realize was only 30 days. Item never worked correctly, was absolutely not useable. I have purchase this brand and model before and loved the features however this one from this seller was not what I expected.

This device really should get five stars but there's just some small things that hold it back. First off the small things. The water level sensor is very finicky. Often times I need to bump the water container to get it to start. It's been getting better the longer I use it but it is a minor inconvenience. Second off the bottom tray does not have enough water capacity. You have to empty it basically every day. To be fair the manual tells you this but it is a thing. Finally the power button for turning on not off is really insensitive and requires multiple presses. This is not a plug it in and go machine. You're going to have to be on top of maintenance. You're going to have to know enough about coffee to adjust its settings to get what you want. It also requires quite a few brews to settle in and make good coffee. For me it didn't start producing pucks until about 15 cups in.I had to adjust the ground size for my coffee making it one or two notches finer. I also have very not hard water so that was set to its lowest. After that it was just playing around with it to see how I like it. Turns out I don't like it at the maximum aroma strength. Also I find I like a little bit more milk in it than what it does for cappuccino. There's an option you can do where you can actually record key presses to get the exact amount of foamy milk you want. It's in the manual it's actually has a lot of cool features. However I just pour some milk in my cup and microwave it before using it. The whole thing is made of plastic and definitely too cost. It doesn't feel cheap but it does seem that the low price reflects its construction. The good news is that Phillips sells repair parts for it for very cheap and repairing it is very easy. All together I love this machine.

I love this machine. Makes great espresso and coffee. Super easy to use and keeps me caffeinated. My guest like it too as it is a pretty neat little coffee maker. It is loud and slow to warm up, but the coffee is fabulous.

1st Unit, received had multiple missing parts Water Filter and Hardness Test Strip, per instructions I either needed to order a filter to properly function or return it for another unit. I didn’t noticed the missing water filter after I completed the first step, filling the container with water (see the replacement info below), which did not leak and went through the cycle.I contacted Amazon chat and they offered to send a replacement one. I confirmed through chat this would be a new unit, because of the missing parts.2nd Unit, received and was surprised it was another Amazon Warehouse “second life unit” this one was missing the original box, however it did have all the accessories. I decided it was a suitable replacement. I followed the instructions like the first one and filled the tank with water. This time water started to leak out the back of the unit, I double and triple check to make sure the water container housing was correctly seeded and was stilling leaking from the lower bottom. Seems like this unit with all the plastic components, could easily malfunction or have issues. Amazon support only offered a return and I’m going to look for a different brand. Maybe if this was a new unit I would have a different experience.

This is a great, fully automatic espresso, coffee and cappuccino maker. Very easy to use and it makes great coffee drinks. The bean compartment could be a bit larger, but that's the only criticism I can come up with. It works as well as many of the much more expensive machines out there, great value for money.

I have been shopping for this type of coffee maker for some time (sick of k-cups). I initially bought a much more expensive brand but returned it (to complicated to clean etc.). This coffee maker is excellent. Was so easy to set up and Coffee tastes great. Cappuccino feature is so convenient and produces great froth. I guess the only negative is the size of the water tank and that it pushes out water into the collection tray with every self cleaning. I just keep a small glass bowel to remedy it. Overall, I am super happy with my Phillpps!!!

Update 1 year:Still running perfectly. I clean the machine regularly, rinse off the brew unit once a week in hot water and wipe out the inside where the brew unit rests, then I hand wash the waste tub and drip tray every few days (1-2 times a week) I cannot stress enough the need to make sure the settings for the beans, the temp, and the water hardness are correctly done for the best results.one year on and not a single issue. perfect coffee every time, I've gotten 3 other family members and a few friends to buy their own machine because they're jealous of mine. Beware though - you may become a coffee snob. I cannot drink Tim Hortons anymore.Easily one of the best coffee machines i've used.I've had 3 different Saeco machines over the years and this one stands out quite a bit.notes I like.Self cleaning before and after a coffee is made.Expresso quantity and quality is excellent.Temperature control.water hardness setting.when the machine runs out of either beans, or water it will hold the next cup (if doing a double)Setting this Machine up correctly. ( setting heat, Water hardness, using filter or filtered water etc) will result in probably the best coffee you've ever tasted. period.I use Coffee level 3-5 either medium roast beans for more aromatic coffee(level 3), or stronger expresso beans (level 5) harsher coffee.my personal favorite is a medium arabic or cuban coffee.I tried, but don't use the milk froth attachment. its fine and all, but if i need a latte i'll usually heat my milk separately and add to the cup for a creamer taste (i use 3.25% (or more) milk)for the simplicity, ease of cleaning, and the amount of water lost (waste) with this model over the few others i've had in the past, this one is the best unit i've bought now in the past few years.the brew unit is easy to clean, and the machine in general is quite easy to keep in order.I use reverse osmosis filtered water, so the coffee is always of a consistent quality. I'll never need to use the added filter, so i get more water volume in the tank than with the filter. this saves time too as I'll never need to run the descaler. using the best water for the best coffee is always the best option.if you take care of this unit, clean it regularly and use good quality beans (at the right settings) this machine will easily last you years.Bought this while on sale new unopened box. I was lucky. Don't accept open / used items if you paid full price. return the unit for replacement if you receive an open box.

Setup was easy enough although the instructions are very limited and not detailed enough. It is easy to use but again instructions were not clear on the different functions or sizes of drinks. Had to search online for information that wasn’t available in the manual or philips webpage. Note it does take some time to self adjust to get a good espresso. I went though a 1lb bags of beans before I started to get a decent drink that was not watery. My current grind adjustment is set at 1 for a fine grind. This may impact a coffee drink be aware you may need to adjust the grind and there is some information that unit takes 100 runs to self adjust. Other down side is the amount of water it uses, it completes a rinse cycle usually on startup and most times on shut down. You will constantly be emptying the base tray and filling the water reservoir. Overall it is easy to use and will make good espresso and cappuccinos but there are some down sides.
