The nipples can be sterilized in any Philips Avent steam sterilizer, boiled for five minutes, or washed in the dishwasher. We love the functionality of Philips avent bottled and nipples. They are the only bottles that our twins have ever used. We found that the flow rate is a little slow compared to many bottles so our newborns started on a 3 flow and progressed to a four flow by 4 months old. We didn’t have any leakage and the baby must suckle in order to release the milk which makes it good for parents who are also breastfeeding. The nipples have a small air valve (that looks like a pin hole) and the white rings (not included) have a small notch. Make sure those two are aligned to be more anti-colic.

These were the nipples I didn't know I needed when sending my breast fed 3 month old to day care. Poor baby went in with the slowest flow nipples and couldn't get any milk out.

Please buy this nipple (the old version) for the avent bottles. Don’t buy the new version of them. The new version sucks. My baby was 2 months used nipple number 5 of the new version and he sucks for 45mins still not finish the bottle. I tried to buy the old version one and it’s great. He finishes the bottles less than 10 mins for 7-8oz

These are by far the best tops! My babies have loved them and it allowed for easy transition between breast and bottle feeding. Super important when doing both.

Works well. Bought these as replacement ones.Update:I do noticed that sometimes they leak from the edges. I do not know why or what causes it but it happens sometimes. I checked to see if it's lined up with the vents and etc. If it's not lined up with the vents, then more prone to leaking. The natural nipples are a bit softer and thinner than the original as well.
