PICKIT2 is a cheap development tool for . Although it supports less ICs than KIT3\ICD2, it is much better than K149 150 and its stability is better than ICD2. It can also be batch programmed offline.
KIT2 is a good choice for beginners.
ICs supported by PICKIT2 can be viewed using MPLAB IDE software.
Open the software, configure -> select device PICKIT2 is supported by the green light.

Download pickitminus from Kair US. The MPLab Pickit v2.61 official software doesn't work. I'm on windows 11 home. Once I got pickitminus, it worked to program a pic12f635. Doesn't seem OEM... USB cord feels scratchy when plugging it into ports, so don't buy if you're thinking OEM, if you need OEM go with different seller... bought it because I wanted it quickly and amazon was able to overnight it to my location.

Major disappointment.Can't be bothered to send it back. False advertising. Disappointed. Fraud.Update Jan 2024: Ended up returning it. I wanted this so that it would with the IDE, and there's no way a Pickit2 will work with any IDE unless you downgrade your Windows and find a 10 year old IDE for PIC (which is possible, but useless for me). It's also possible to make Pickit2 work via the command line via a Github download, but that defeats the purpose, and makes using it too difficult. Get a Pickit 3 at least. Oh, and the seller didn't contact me at all about this fail.
