First we cleared the barnacles off the three piers. There is a tool to do it, but we simply did it with a scraper and hammer. Then I measured and ordered from Pier Protector. We went vertical with the wrap so there was no overlap. We planned a super low tide to complete the project. My boyfriend wrapped the piers with the provided roll while I cut the pieces of plastic (I used both a box cutter and heavy-duty scissors - both worked fine). We used two cinch straps top and bottom to hold the plastic protector in place while nailing. Three pilings at five foot each were finished in less than two hours. They look SO NICE and are now protected for years. The bid on this job was over $600. We did it for less than $100 and four hours total of work.
