I was excited to replace my D'Addario erhu strings with these Pirastro strings, and I'm happy with how they play. The Pirastro strings have a lighter gauge compared to the D'Addario strings, which make them more pliable for my fretting hand and allow me to bow with less strength to obtain a consistent sound. They're also similar in feeling to nylon guitar strings (a smooth, plasticky feeling), which makes it easier for my fretting hand to glide across the fretboard. The D'Addario strings have a more metal-like feeling that tends to grip onto the fretting fingers over time, which makes it harder to play my erhu. I'm glad I switched to these strings, they're well worth the price. Since it's only my first day trying these strings, I'll update my review if things pop up.

I have a Chinese New Year performance coming up so I want sound my best. I was skeptical as these strings are quite a bit more expensive than the leading alternative. The sound from these strings is a major improvement in both tone and power. I won't be using anything else from now on.
