A little disappointed with this item. I ordered it for my husband since we use our Pitboss year round and thought it would be nice to thaw meat quicker. I recently put two small frozen steaks on it and let it sit for an hour and it was still very frozen. Not sure if theres a trick to it but seems like a waste of money. Might as well put the steak in a plastic bag and put it in water.

Yes you will thaw food faster on this. I was able to get 4 new York strips to barely fit on here with a small amount of space between them (you don't want them touching, it hinders the thawing). I wish it was larger since I like to do ribeyes and large chicken breasts. A tip I have is to put another metal tray under it that is larger because you can get drips. This tray ideally would be made of aluminum as well to pull more cold from the pitboss defroster into that secondary pan speeding up the thawing a little. It also helps thaw frozen together pieces of food so you can split them up. It's not perfect for that but it helps. I recommend flipping every 20-30 minutes for even and faster thawing

Actually bought this as a gift because my daughter saw me using mine. I use it at least weekly to thaw frozen meat. It takes about 1 hour to thaw 3/4 inch burger patties. I usually buy "family" size package of meat and freeze into meal-sized portions. The tray works best if the item is not too thick, so a try to freeze in one layer. Really speeds up the defrosting. If I am really in a hurry, I will heat the tray with hot water to give it a head start. I also have two of these so I can put one on top as well.

Does not work! The frozen meat does thaw while sitting out at room temperature. Takes well over an hour to begin to thaw. Not exactly safe food handling.

Exactly as described and works great. Only problem is 3 of the 4 little peg legs for the corners were missing upon arrival, no where in the packaging either (figures id glue them on). Due to my work schedule I'm unable to make it to a post office to replace it.
