My 1992 XJ is a base model, so it didn't have any luxuries like a center console! I first installed a same model year center console, but was frustrated by the lack of cupholders! The 1997 + models had cupholders so I had to retrofit it in my XJ. For the most part it worked, but he rear end of the console was always wobbly despite the brackets I'd fabricate. I threw in the original style for the 1997+ years and it works... I just had to drill my own holes.
