This is the best value for these. I have a lot of veggies growing and was having to drag the hose out. That ended with these. Wine bottles go into them. I live in Florida—- hot, hot, hot. Thus, I fill them every other day. However, I no longer have to worry about overwatering as these feed the water.

I’m really happy with these! During the heat wave, they’ve really saved my big pots! I soaked them in water for 30 minutes before I put them in the pots. That way they wouldn’t be pulling water out of the pots initially. I also found that they work just fine with a rosé bottle, not just a bottle with “shoulders”. I watered the pot, buried them almost to where the soil line is, and filled them up with water before I popped the wine bottle on top. I’ve only had to refill the bottles once during the last 4 days of 90°+ weather. Very happy with them and just ordered another set!

I chose this plant bottle water even though it was more specific specifically because of the packaging picture here in the ad (the cardboard around the 4 stakes and cute little "Recycle A Wine Bottle" labelIt is for a gift basket so it has to be aesthetically appealing. This one was more expensive than any others. However it comes in this plain ugly box with just the stakes separated by plain cardboard inside. I can't put this in my basket now. I will have to print out my own label and everything. I could havespent way less money for the same product if I knew it wasn't going to be packaged as pictured. Disappointing.

I bought a bunch of these 2 summers ago and bought more. These are perfect for larger flower pots or vegetable grow pots. I save old wine bottles and use those or you can get plastic ones. I prefer glass specifically in my vegetable pots. They are easier to get into the soil if you water first, then they seem to glide in every easy.

I grow lettuce, spinach, beets and carrots in bags in my home and use the plant nanny for watering. Nice slow release of liquid for the plants.

I travel for work and am gone Monday to Friday. Asking others to water my plants was a chore and also they didn't understand which plants liked a lot of water and which plants only to just moisten the soil. The Plant Nanny was the perfect solution. Water is released at the rate the plant wants it. I bought 2 sets and now have beautiful 14 inch planters and 10 & 12 inch baskets that look perfect when I get home Friday evenings. I use some liquid fertilizer once a month and I feel better that I am not over fertilizing.

Overview:These plant nannies work decently enough, but they will not keep your plants watered on their own, especially in hot weather. Keeping your plants fertilized may be a challenge, and plants with shallow root systems may not benefit as much. I'd recommend these for indoor houseplants. If you're looking for a solution for outdoor plants or herbs/vegetables, you may want to look more into drip irrigation.More specifics:I live in USDA Zone 6a. I've grown the plants in the pictures from seed (same packets) and they are now five months old. I've been using the plant nannies for the past one month. In hot weather (85+ deg F), plants without the nannies started to wilt after one day without being watered. Those that had the nannies wilted after two/three days without being watered. They did make a difference, but they will not keep your plants watered on their own. I've ended up watering my plants every day anyway, just using less water and relying on the nannies as a reserve source of water.Fertilization is definitely a concern. Long-release granular fertilizers that you spread on top of the soil will not work anywhere near as well with the plant nannies. They are designed to dissolve when you water them, which you may do less with the nannies. I've tried my best with applying liquid fertilizers and foliar sprays as an alternative, but the difference in still obvious. In the pictures attached, you can see the difference in size and color due to lack of nutrients. Left are those with plant nannies with liquid fertilizer applications, right are those without plant nannies with a granular fertilizer. If you're more comfortable with non-granular fertilizers, you may have better luck. One last thing to note is that water only wicks at the tip of the nannies. This helps reduce unnecessary evaporation at the soil surface, but it may cause plants with shallow roots to struggle, such as younger plants or certain species. You could try inserting the nannies shallower, but they are a bit unstable and I wouldn't recommend it. If putting the nannies in an already established plant, keep in mind that it will take the plant some time to adapt to the new method of watering as well.

Work exactly as advertised, I would definetly buy again. I do find that as the soil gets dry it pushes the spike out a little bit so I just have to make sure when refilling the wine bottle with water that I push the spike back into the soil.

I used for 3 of my pants, with different kind of soil, and I traveled for a week, and I came back realized my plants grew a lot better than when I water them. Lol. The water drip in different pace for different kind if soil. And amazing part is, there's no whole on the tip, water just come through the material on the tip. I love this thing, we better than those glass bulb I bought before, and I can use wine bottle, plastic perrier bottle, to hold water, which last for long time.
