These are perfect for forming z-bends in stainless steel spring wire up to about .8mm which is .031 inches. This kind of wire is extremely stiff and very difficult to bend into tight shapes without a plier like this.A z-bend is two 90º bends in opposite directions immediately adjacent to each other. Together they form a step. These pliers will only bend .8mm wire to about 80º but it’s easy enough to finish the bend with a two pair of needle nose pliers.Spring wire diameters above .8mm will probably deform the v-channel jaws and in any event do not form well due to the very small geometry of these v-channels but for .8mm wire or smaller these are great. I bought 3 or 4 different types of wire bending pliers after getting these and never found any that work this well on really small diameter wire with small step z-bends.Z-bends in .8mm wire made with these pliers can be as small as about 2.35mm from outside to outside.A z-bend allows you to insert the wire through a hole in say some .5mm sheet plastic and then turn it so each tail lays flat on opposing surfaces with the bend going through the hole. I use them to attach a couple of square inches of plastic sheet to a spring wire beam to form the sail of the vane on diy anemometers that I build.

These are very nice and very high quality. Fit very nicely in your hand and easy to get into tight places which is great when doing wire wrapped rings.

I bought this for making HO scale locomotive handrails and grab irons from .012 - .020 brass rod. I use a fixture to get a precise length between bends, but it never gives sharp 90 degree bends. I use these pliers to refine the bends. Works very well for this purpose.

This works well with thin wire and flat stock. Ideal for model making

Well designed with hobbyists in mind - a must for tool junkies. One Jaw is grooved parallel to the length with the other slightly "V"ed to fit the groove.

I've been waiting for someone to make a tool like this for a long time. This is about 80% what it should be. For some reason the front profile of the plier does not sit flush against a set of plans so you can grab a wire on plans and bend it. You must mark the wire where you want the bend, then pick it up and insert it a few millimeters into the jaws for the tool to securely hold the wire and bend it. That was a little disappointing for a precision micro tool.

...and this one is no exception. If you do AFV modeling this is perfect for one little thing- putting a sharp 90 degree bend in photoetch.
