The Flame Resistant Fiberglass Hearth Rug by Plow & Hearth protects hearth and home from the damage of flying sparks, popping embers and potential fire hazards.
The industrial strength, flame retardant, tightly woven fiberglass construction protects your fine floors without melting, smoldering or ugly cinder scars.
This half round hearth rug protects the area in front of your fireplace or wood stove. The smooth finish lies flat while the non-skid vinyl backing keeps the rug in place on any flooring: hardwood, area rugs or carpeting. The bound edges are trimmed in polyester for a finished look.

This rug meets or exceeds CPSC FF1-70, the standard for surface flammability of rugs and carpets.
CAUTION Although the face of this rug is fire-resistant to over 1500º F, it will allow heat to transfer through if exposed to extreme heat for extended time, such as allowing burning coals or logs to lay on rug. Possible damage to underlying flooring can result. Discoloration may occur at very high temperatures.
Care & Cleaning Vacuum or shake out. Spot clean, as required, with water and mild detergent rubbing gently with a non-abrasive sponge. Do not machine wash or use solvent cleaners.

This is FIBERGLASS, NOT polypropylene!... it's heavy and fire proof. The stitching is even and the tan is a nice color. This is what I've been looking for to protect my floor! It's heavy enough that it is not easy to trip over it!

Not the most beautiful rug but we use it by our hearth and it works well. Has saved our carpet from small burns and sparks. Worth the money to save our carpet

Light and non-thick-carpet looking. Very thin. Has too much fiberglass; our whole family broke out into rash when you lie near the fireplace. Feels like you just sat on fiberglass insulation!

The rug size and color are fine. I found the fabric to be pretty rough. The first time I kneeled on it, to get a fire going, when I got up, I felt that I had little cactus quills in my knees and tops of my feet. I couldn't brush them off without getting the quills off my hands. Made for restless sleep. The rug does its job.

This rug saved the day the first day we had it! The rug was delivered rolled up (as expected) and it took just a little effort of rolling it in the opposite direction to flatten it out. I unpacked it, unrolled it, and put it right in front of the hearth and immediately built a fire. We had some especially odd shaped pieces of wood that I chose for the fire and after a while, one of the logs broke and caused an avalanche of flaming, ember-y logs in the fire place. One rolled completely out and onto the rug. After cleaning up, there were no marks on the rug at all - and I have the tan color. I'm quite impressed with the quality of this rug and how easy it is to clean. Large pieces of debris are easily swept off, and I use my hose attachment on the vacuum to clean up the smaller bits. It's well worth its cost to keep my hardwood floors pristine and to keep my house (and those in it) safe from accidents caused by shifting wood in the fireplace.

We have been using this for two years now, and it still looks new. Very durable and protects quite well. My only 'complaint' is that there isn't an anti-slip backing, so it slides a bit on the carpet at the fireplace. GREAT product and would recommend to everyone.
