So much better than my previous grate. Firewood lasts longer, fire burns more evenly and it looks better. I only wish I had bought it sooner. The cost put me off but now I see it will end up paying for itself. I recommend it highly.

For my wood stove, it didn’t work. It’s out in the back yard now. I found that the coals didn’t drop through until entirely burned so the stove didn’t get hot enough to burn large pieces. A flat version would possibly work better.

Awesome product; would buy again! One negative comment was that the finish doesn't last. I never expected it would at these temperatures, at least it's solidly built...not meant to stay pretty. The other negative complaint had to do with lack of air flow. I cannot imagine this being a problem; I suspect it might be in whatever technique is being used to start the fire or the condition of any wood being used (perhaps wet wood). This is "fire and forget". With my previous grate I was stoking the fire every 15 minutes or so; this is self-sustaining (except for adding wood) due to the fire collapses onto itself as it burns. Great product! Thanks!

Nice! heavy duty made and figure this will last for my grandkids to use! Worth the added cost, compared to others that I saw.Update- it’s been almost 2 years and these are great! Sill like new and holding up great! My grandchildren will probe using these many years from now!

The grate is ok. It does the job and the design works good. It would be better if it were wider in the front and narrower in the back, like most every fireplace is. The legs are held on by a single bolt so we'll see if they hold up. The holes are small; advantage, it keeps the hot coals near the wood making for a more complete burn - disadvantage, it's difficult to start a fire as the flames from any starter paper or starter cubes have a hard time getting through. The unit sits up high; advantage - gets plenty of air helping it burn better once started - disadvantage - if you have a small fireplace, it really eats up a lot of vertical space. All in all, I wouldn't pay this much for this grate again. Maybe half.

This is the perfect grate. Our fireplace is small and the inexpensive ones available at chain stores were cheaply made and didn't allow correct airflow to keep the fire burning. This grate fits perfectly, very sturdy and the wood burns completely.We love it and recommend it highly.
