Review of the GBT-4-IW. I used this to replace a wall jack which had 1 PoE jack. Now I have 4 PoE jacks. Zero configuration required, and it fit the existing wall hole perfectly. Everything started working immediately. My only complaint is that the price is a bit high, since you can now buy 1 to 4 PoE extenders for about half what this model costs; however this is a special form factor, and seems to be quality, so I think the moral is "you get what you pay for". Recommended!

This was super easy to install and made a quick way to expand ports in a room with a single cable. I'd definitely get this again for my next project.

I have it set up in an environment where I'm pushing power from a PoE switch to it, then running 2-3 IP cameras off of the Texas Extender. Works GREAT!

I had a security camera I wanted to wall mount, but unfortunately the camera didn't support PoE, so I had to use a PoE splitter to power it. This product was just what I needed! I installed it in the ceiling behind the camera. It takes a PoE Ethernet cable in the back, and splits it into Ethernet and USB in the front. It's fully enclosed (entirely encased in plastic at the back) so you don't need an electrical box like you would with a regular outlet or switch. An orange low-voltage bracket is sufficient.

I previously gave a poor review because this device would die when plugged into my desktop. I'm retracting that because it's not entirely this device's fault, but there are some improvements that would have helped. The issue I encountered is that, when this devices was powered by a Uniquiti POE switch, my desktop would overdraw the Ubiquiti, and this device would lose power and connectivity entirely. Why my desktop was drawing from POE, I have no idea, and it's honestly frustrating, but beyond my control. I used a USB-to-ethernet adapter (instead of the motherboard's ethernet port) so my desktop couldn't draw power from this deviceWhich brings me back to this device. Without further adieu, here's my review:- With my overdraw problem fixed, this device is working fine and both my laptop and desktop can get a full gigabit (to share).- The build quality is solid, and installation was easy. There's really nothing else on the market that offers what this device does, so I'm happy to find something that gets me more network ports, without needing an outlet or extra box.- I wish this device had some control interface (via LAN connection, physical switches, etc) that would let me disable its POE output on certain ports. That way I could've plugged my desktop in without POE, instead of needing the USB dongle.- I haven't tried it, but I'm skeptical this could really power four POE devices (based on other reviews). So I really think there's no reason all four ports had to be POE. One POE port and three non-POE ports (or two-and-two) would also have saved me from my overdraw problems.Overall, I still recommend this product, but I do want to warn readers that you're stuck with POE on every port, and that can sometimes cause issues.

I need a very un-intrusive way to power a Poe Network Access Point while still allowing two more device to connect to a single network jack. This unit did that VERY nicely.

Connected to 2 POE-cameras with a POE++ injector, one camera constantly failed as soon as the IR switch on. Used another switch from a different manufacturer with exactly the same specifications in the same setup and was able to run 4 cameras. I even tested the other manufacturer’s switch with a second POE pass through switch and 5 cameras including a PTZ, all worked perfectly even in a closed room with no windows that was pitch black an 200 ft of cable between the switch and the injector. Either the specifications on this switch are not as stated or the other manufacturer’s switch with exactly the same specs is just better. But I would think this switch would be able to handle 2 cameras which it could not.

It's sleek, installation was really easy even though I had to use a PoE Injector! Once everything plugged back everything worked as expected!

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's an unmanaged switch that draws power from an upstream POE switch, and supplies power to four downstream POE ports. It works well. The uplink ethernet connector is at a right angle to the rest of the ports and this is perfect for fitting in a junction box. Unfortunately there's also a ground lug that sticks out from the rear of the switch. This was too long and prevented installation. I had to grind it down almost 10mm to get it to fit in a standard box. Just something to watch out for.Link LEDs are missing from this unit. That's a slight inconvenience because you don't know if a downstream device is connected. As with all modern electronics there is a very annoying always-on bright blue power LED.The cost is high for a four port POE switch, however when you factor in the expense to run additional ethernet cables, this could be a big money saver for commercial installations.
