Hello, the item arrived without the required screws to put unit together, luckily i had some screws that would work. It is sort of annoying that you have to install the batterys from the bottom. wish i knew what size power adapter for unit so would not have to use batteries.

This feeder is difficult to program. You have to click buttons to get to the time and use the same buttons to get to the date and duration of feed. There is no way to know if you got the correct settings until you wait for it to trigger. It is slow to feed and my koi go nuts with the trickle feed system. Large capacity though.

I bought this feeder because of the metal spout and its height since I was having trouble with other feeders for my koi pond due to squirrels and rats chewing on the plastic and destroying them to get to the food. Although the idea seemed good, the feeder does not work. It has a timer and a metal plate that turns and is supposed to deliver the prescribed amount of food depending on the time the plate spins up to 60 seconds. The problem is the pellets slide around in the plate and the amount of food delivered to the pond is unreliable. I could count 30 pellets delivered after 50 seconds, and the next time only 4 pellets after 60 seconds. Good thing I tried it even with different size and shape pellets before I went on vacation.Don't waste your money. I even went to the company website (Briidea) and could no longer see it advertized, so it may have been discountinued.

The feeder worked the first week, but then for some reason the Tetra stick food I use stopped dispensing. The motor turns as it should, but the sticks just "float" over thr top of the plate that dispenses the food. Some will come out but it doesn't dispense near the amount it should. I have it set for 59 on the scheduled amount and usually I get about 10 -15 sticks out. The batteries do not last either. I needed to replace them weekly so I purchased a DC power adapter. I would like to return it, but I don't have the original packing materials. I had a different brand before, but it wasn't made for outside use so I had to cover it. It worked great for several years before it quit. I went to this one since it was designed for external use.

UPDATE: The original kit I made worked as expected, but I didn’t permanently mount it right away because I wanted to make sure it was in a good spot. It worked well for 23 hours, then an animal tried and failed to get to the food inside it. Unfortunately that caused it to tip over into the pond. Water then flowed backward into the bucket, and when I tried to retrieve it, the extra weight caused two of the legs to snap off. I chalked that up to user error and ordered a replacement.During assembly, one of the legs snapped off from just the “force” of me finger-tightening a wing nut. So clearly there is a problem with the welds on the base of these things. If they can fix the way the legs attach, those would be good kits.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I'm about to load this up with food and let it run for a couple of weeks to see how it does. For now, my review is about the assembly process. After I see how well it works in the real world I'll update my review. My kit was missing the two screws needed to build the feeding chute, but I was able to improvise with items found in my junk drawer. The assembly instructions are nearly incomprehensible, with pictures that completely fail to show anything useful. And on the 4 long bolts provided, the wingnuts were all pre-installed backwards which made it even more difficult to figure out how those pieces were supposed to be used.Fortunately it's actually hard to put this together wrong, so once you get past chute assembly (step 1) you might be better off setting the instructions aside and using observation and common sense.Once it's built, the programming instructions are much more understandable than the assembly instructions. One other thing to note: The provided screwdriver did not fit the screw on the battery compartment cover, so you'll likely still need to grab another screwdriver even though the kit comes with one.
