Danner Manufacturing, Inc., Pondmaster Garden Pond Filters are low profile filters that are designed to be unobtrusive in the bottom of the pond. Its large surface area means less frequent cleaning. More than one filter can be connected to a pump using a tee fitting and offer mechanical filtration. Dual filter elements offer particle filtering and filtration of certain harmful compounds. The filter media is easily rinsed or changed and less time consuming than many similar filters of its kind. Great for beginners and easy to clean and maintain.

Does the trick...... the top is a bit flimsy so becareful removing it and make sure not to step on it. All in all works great. Cleaning is pretty easy as well.

I use 2 of these in my pond and they although they need regular cleaning, they are easy to work with and do a great job.

When I removed the filter from the box the top had a crack in it. Have used this manufacture for years never had a problem.

The second one I've used and they last a long time and do the job with some modification. I can not use the filter as designed as the top filter media will just fill up so fast I can't keep up with it.Instead, I remover the top filter that covers the entire inside surface area. The water drawn from pond passes through the filter and goes to another external filter that strips out a lot of the particulate. This arrangement works very well.As stated, this is second bought. The first filter is still working fine and has been working every day for more then a decade. Regular cleaning and handling has not seen any weakening of the plastic cover or case. The six tabs that hold the top onto the base are fine as is the rest of the material. Overall this is a good product. The only thing I replaced on the original was the four black filters after about five years use. This is a basic need for my koi pond hobby. Got to have it.

I'd purchased one of these to go with a new pump some five or six years ago to filter the water in a small water feature pond that came with my house. I have "feeder" goldfish in there (sprung from the death row of fish to be fed to other fish at the pet store) eating the mosquito larvae and algae. My little fish have grown in to pretty good sized (like 3" long) goldfish over the years and make lots of poop. Hence the need for a filter. To facilitate cleaning the filter, I just purchased a second filter. Now I can keep one in the pond with a clean, ready to go filter on hand. This speeds up the process significantly.

I originally purchased a Pondmaster 1000 because the pond that was at my house was under 1000 gallons so I assumed this would be the best unit. I assumed wrong. The pump is a pondmaster 2650 so I contacted Danner aka Pondmaster to find out which prefilter I should buy. They suggested this unit. After the unit arrived I tried to install it. For one it came with less adapter pieces than the 1000 had. So, I am not sure if it truly does not fit or if I am missing parts. I tried to contact the customer service rep I had been talking too and I have not received a response. Really disappointed.Update: Finally called Danner rather than continuing to email with no response. She explained to me that I would have to disconnect my waterfall hose to use this filter, that there was not a way to use this as an inline filter. I then asked which filter I should use and she said there was no filter to use with this pump. I am irritated and confused at the moment because this pump is specifically designed to work with waterfalls.

Many years ago I built wife a 400 gallon Koi pond. When it started to break down I built a new one about 40% bigger and the old filter would not keep up. I had an extra so I hooked 2 together and still was often having to clean the filters daily. Bought this, hooked it up to the same pump:Which as a snap and that was the end of having to clean it daily. Now I can go weeks between cleanings. One thing to know. As it comes to you it's not really ready to go. I first tried it and it would not sink to the bottom. You can take out some of the foam blocks in it and replace with lava rock, or what I did was just put a couple old butter knives from the silverware drawer in it and that took care of that.
