STEP 1:
Drill a 3/16 inch hole in the rear of the skimmer casing with the included drill bit. Locate the bonding plate as close to the bottom of the skimmer casing as possible allowing for enough room inside of the skimmer for the bonding plate.
STEP 2:
Remove accessories except the rubber sealing washer. Put the bonding plate on the inside wall as close to the bottom of the skimmer, push the threaded stud through the hole.
STEP 3:
Flat washer, lock washer and nut to secure with the included wrench, then secure the bonding lug with the 2nd flat washer, 2nd lock washer and 2nd nut. At last link the copper wire to the bonding lug.
Here shown is the outside of skimmer surface.
The copper wire isn't smaller than no.8 AWG, and should link to the motor and all metallic parts of the pool within 5ft of the inside wall of the pool.

I never thought about it before but it’s definitely a good idea to have a grounding point, with all the electrical elements of our pools. This was much smaller than I thought it would be. It looks huge in the picture. But it fits in the palm of your hand. Very easy to install, took less than ten minutes. Hopefully will never have to actually find out how well it works, but I feel better knowing we have some sort of protection. A small price tag for a big peace of mind.

The product is already rusting and I can’t change it out since the skimmer is now concreted in. It’s only been 3 months

We’ve had a large pool for many many years, but I never thought of doing this. It makes perfect sense but who ever thinks about it. We use all kinds of electric gadgets in our pools nowadays so it only makes good sense to have a bonding cable to the earth. From pumps to LED lighting and you never know when something could get shorted out sending electricity into your pool and it is going to be looking for a way out. So with this that’s what we give it is a way.

I was leaking a little water from the hole i had to drill. So i had to tighten up the nut a little more and it broke off and i lost the rubber washer when it broke. I had to go buy a new screw and washer. This time i added a little silicon on the outside be3i tightened it up.

This CICDO Pool Bonding Kit was quick and easy to install in my Hayward above-ground skimmer. The instructions are easy to follow and understand. Everything you need is included except the wire. I was surprised to find that the kit also had the drill bit. It took less than ten minutes to install. Just ensure you carefully measure and mark the hole before drilling.I have a saltwater pool; after two weeks, I see no rust on the plate. Please note that the photo shows what appears to be rust. I didn’t see that when I took the picture. So, I returned to the pool to check and found it to be the result of some odd shadowing that only shows in the photo.Conclusion: Grounding a pool is very important. And this is an excellent method of bonding your pool to earth ground. In my case, I have a ground rod twelve feet away, next to my shed, and I grounded it there. I am completely satisfied with this product. Of course, with items like this, time is the actual test. I will update this review if I see any signs of corrosion on the plate after a more extended time. I see no reason to give this item less than a five-star review.
