Straight forward installation, but the package was missing a couple screws. Additionally, the 4 screws that did come with the package felt very cheap. So I went to Lowe's and got different screws that felt sturdy and fit the holes better. Regardless, after installing this on my 2020 Kia niro plug in hybrid j feel much more comfortable nowadays.

got this for my motorhome that has a Ford E450 chassis because I saw quite a few discussions on criminals that are cutting out catalytic converters from trucks that are fairly easy to get under and use a portable jab saw to remove it quickly. I found there are a few vehicles that you can get a solid cover plate over the converter but mine is not one of them. Found this device through some research and the premise is the cables being somewhat loose can't be cut with a jab saw since they move around and would need a bolt cutter to remove them and with having to cut many cable loops and then still have to have a saw to cut out the converter this would deter someone from an easy theft and they would move to something else. So having installed this I think it will be at least a minor inconvenience to theft. ! gave this a four star for a couple of reasons, one is the pictures and even the short company install video made it seem that the plate was larger than it really was. Two: the cost seems to be somewhat excessive, I noticed that there were other systems like this on Amazon that even had the same picture in the add but were almost half the cost! Knowing how some dealers use generic pictures but have an inferior product I decided to go with the higher price but now wonder if I could have got the same thing cheaper? Three: after winding cables laying on my back I got to the point of screwing down the clamping bolts and using a portable nut driver like they did in the video I had one bolt that broke right off, I didn't want to re-loosen everything up just to try to change a bolt (since I probably couldn't anyway as it was snapped off at the thread end) so I left it. Four: the backing plate was very hard to get on, had to make sure none of the cable loops were not above the clamp down plate or the cover would not allow the screws to start. Overall I think this will do what is intended but for all my troubles I wish I would have paid a bit less for it!

Seems like a good deterrent, for one thing they would have to make some serious noise to steal my cat now, and I don’t know of any sawzall blade that will cut stainless

If you've ever had your catalytic converter stolen, you know how frustrating it can be. The culprits were caught on video and were gone in 3 minutes start to finish. While I don't believe this will be fool proof, I understand through my research this could take them 25 minutes and that is additional time they have of getting caught. Since then, I have two different would-be thieves on camera in which they went under my truck for a look then debated a few minutes before leaving empty handed. At the moment it appears it is doing its job and I recommend to anyone who needs the added theft deterrent.

A neighbor of mine with the exact same make and model of car as I have, an older Honda Odyssey, just had their converter cut out, so I rushed to find something to make my car less of a tempting target. The reason the older Honda Odysseys are tempting to steal the converter out of is that they are easily accessible, in the open on the bottom of the car, and are on the larger side since these vans use the large 3.5 liter Honda V-6. This device takes that temptation way down. They were in and out of my Neighbors car in less than 2 minutes, it would likely take this crew closer to 15-20 minutes to get this thing off, would require some angle grinders and bolt cutters, and would make a heck of a racket while they were under there. The goal with this is to get these creeps to go after an easier target, and this fits the bill. Not the cheapest solution but definitely effective. Would recommend!

Not sure why a member thinks this is easy to remove. It's pretty hard to cut a cable with a Sawzall and a criminal won't be bringing the tools to remove this hardware. I've installed two of these and even including an option to use one on two converters! Bottom line is they can't be taken without time and a struggle.

Appears to be of decent quality. A bit pricey for what you get. Finally able to install only to find out it cannot be used on a 2007 Jetta! So definitely not a universal fit. Best to wait for something more effective and less archaic. Hopefully car manufacturers will come up with a better product. Would not recommend. Seller would not offer refund as I started install after return policy lapsed, I had wrongfully concluded that universal fit meant exactly that, so I was in no rush to install. Big mistake!

Do not buy this if you live in California! It didn’t say this anywhere in the product description, but I just tried to get my car smogged and they failed me because they couldn’t see the serial number on the catalytic converter. The plate is blocking the view. I have to remove the darn thing to do the smog test. It is supposed to have a ‘window’ so they can see the serial number. Must be some new law. I actually like the product a lot - I can park on the street and not worry about it, but am going to have to switch to a different one.
