Bought this lock for 2008 Tacoma in December 2021. Now it’s broken. Not worth paying for 100 dollars and broke in 6 months, DO NOT BUY!!!!

Works exactly as advertised on my 2011 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. Pretty easy install, too. The only real hassle was climbing around underneath to feed the wire up to the front and tap into the automatic lock. FYI, I just followed what I assume is the wire for the taillights, which runs under the passenger side of the vehicle. Then, I fed the wire in through a port that's located in the front of the front passenger-seat footwell. Pull up the carpet, and you'll see it. Pull out the plastic trim in the front right corner of the same footwell, and you'll see a package of wires that includes the automatic locks one that you'll tape into. Easy.

I have had a manual Pop & Lock handle for a couple years. Finally decided to add the actuator. The instructions are lacking. I am sure I could have figured it out, but I found a couple YouTube install videos that made it much clearer. No special tools, etc. required. Overall install took about an hour. I read the reviews on the loudness of the actuator. They weren't wrong. I don't know if it echo from the tailgate or what, but it is pretty loud. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons.

This is a great add on. Now I can unlock and lock my tailgate with the keyless remote. This is how it should have come from the factory. It’s a little loud on the outside but it lets me know that is locked. It was well worth the money and time/effort to install.

Oh man if had to do 1 mod in you Tacoma this it is makes locking up your whole truck a breeze, the Tacoma was my truck ever and I had a bunch of mods on a list that I wanted to do but after having it for a week and having to lock it the back with a key Everytime after coming from an SUV it made me almost rethink about my truck purchase after this life and time is so much better first mod you should do

The instructions are ok, they tell you the color and stripe of wires you are looking for, but they don't tell you WHERE to find the correct wires. I had to watch a few videos online to figure it out. But the tailgate unit installs very easily, and once I had run the wire (the biggest challenge after finding the wires), it was very easy to finish up the installation. Works like a charm. One note, if you buy this on Amazon, Pop and Lock will not warranty it. They specifically exclude Amazon purchases from the warranty. I called them about this, since I wanted to buy it directly from them. The Amazon unit was $90 (and Prime shipping). The same model number on the Pop and Lock website was $120. I would have paid the higher amount, but then Pop and Lock wanted to charge me $20 for shipping! So I called Pop and Lock to see if they would work with me, at least on the shipping. No deal. They wouldn't even discuss it. At a total of $140, I just couldn't justify buying it from them. So I bought the one on Amazon and very happy I did. Even if the actuator fails, I could buy another actuator on Amazon for $10.

I added this after I purchased the Pop & Lock locking handle for my 2007 Toyota Tacoma because after installing the handle I noticed I would go into the bed for a quick get and have to turn off the truck every time. With this kit I just unlock the doors and the bed is open I walk away never wondering if I locked the bed or not. Both products installed with ease and integrated perfectly. Notice the bracket which I believe is a design change from the single bolt version and it makes perfect sense. This is a company that listens to the consumer and makes changes when they make sense. Highly recommend and if you are a DIY person this is a fun one and I rate it on a scale of ease from 1 - 10 a solid 3 it the hardest part is running the cable under the truck and zipping it to the frame.
