My book came without my CD ROM promised in the cover. Where is it?! More importantly, WHAT IS IT?! I’ve seen in ancient texts it some sort of shiny, educational frisbee, but what does it do? How does it convey its infinitesimal amount of data? Would it be a language still understood today? The book is good. Seems like an accurate small catalogue of craftsman furniture with sale drawings and details. Not exhaustive, but good examples of several notable styles.I didn’t really expect the cd rom, now would I have a place to use it. Might have still whipped it at my brother though, that always seemed their best use.

I like this book a lot. I'm only part-way through it at the moment but it's already one of my favourite woodworking plans books. The book starts with an introductory chapter covering the history of the Arts and Crafts movement (or at least the American side of it), followed by half a dozen pages describing key Arts and Crafts design elements and techniques. The projects taken from the pages of Popular Woodworking magazine are very well presented, each starting with a beautiful photo of the finished piece, and some interesting snippets of background information about the original piece or the inspiration behind the design. The instructions are comprehensive, the plans are clear, and there are plenty of photos of intermediate steps. A full cut list is included for each project. Imperial measurements are used throughout, but the cut lists include metric conversions. The included bonus CD contains a PDF with a further 10 projects and 10 other articles on techniques and jigs. So with 35 projects in total, it makes this book excellent value. However it's a shame they didn't take the opportunity to include printable versions of the plans from the book, or at least the patterns for the curved parts. As one of the Amazon.com reviewers observed, the selection of projects is quite chair-heavy, including no less than 3 variants of Morris chair. The 25 projects in the book comprise: 3 bookcases; 7 tables of various sorts; 8 chairs and benches; 5 chests and cabinets; a print stand; and a clock. The 10 projects on the bonus CD are a more varied mix, and include: a drinks cabinet; a wall cabinet; a garden bench and table; a couple of bookcases/magazine stands; a hall stand; a waste paper basket; a side table; and a table lamp.

This is a beautiful book. Easy to follow instructions, written by an author that is obviously knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. I was looking for a book with instructions on the Morris chair and this is the book with the best easy to follow and understand.

This book has so many great ideas for furniture. I don't know where to start. I love the instructions. I am a beginner but I think even I can create nice furniture.

This book, Popular Woodworking's Arts & Crafts Furniture Projects (2008), is a nice expansion of the PW's previous title, Authentic A & C Furniture Projects (2000). If you're looking for an easy to follow Arts & Crafts furniture book, this one fits the bill pretty well. This title has 26 projects; These projects use modern tools/techniques, great for building A & C furniture to fill your bungalow. Of the 22 projects from the 2000 book, seven projects are included in the 2008 book, nine are on the bonus cd, and six are omitted. Missing projects are: Spindle side table, Octagonal Taboret, Bungalow mailbox, Heirloom cradle, Two Frames, and the Garden storage bench. All the articles include materials lists, construction techniques, and sources for supplies. The bonus disc includes ten articles on techniques, as well as 10 project plans, all are PDFs, so they print well. This book is a worthy addition to the home craftsman's library.
