I spent hours trying to balance my truck tires with this and it was a waste of time. This unit and all other that look like it are made made in the same factory incorrectly. The pivot head inside the top piece is off center from the factory and there is no way to fix it. The manufacture must think that zeroing the bubble before putting the tire will work but if the head is out of balance then how can it balance a tire? You can balance a tire perfectly then take the tire off spin the balance head 180 degrees put the tire back on the balancer and it's way off again.

For home balancing of tires and wheels, this little jewel came through where the professionals couldn't. Now if I lose a weight, I can take care of it without the hassle and inconvenience of going to a tire shop. very compact and portable if needed at the track or wherever.

I think it is a fairly good tool for the money. A spin balancer will detect a faulty tire perhaps. I had trouble taking the vibration out of a new set of tires but found out that one of the tires was defective. The last new set of tires I balanced did well one this balancer. Pay special station to detail, such as a level flat, hard surface to work on and the bubble setting as you use this. Sometimes I will rotate the tire around the balancer to double check the reading of the bubble. Of course, a professional spin balance is best.

I greased the pivot pin and used silicone spray on the cone and shafts. I used 1/4" oz weights and the balancer could have provided even a more precise if I had smaller weights. I worked very well.If you're trying to decide if you should change and balance your own tires you can with one of these, a couple of tire irons, soapy water and a scissor jack or other means to break the bead. Oh and don't forget an air supply to seat the tire beads.
