These are great additions to my lower-level patio deck. They are bright enough to provide a beautiful ambient lighting however not so bright it's really going to light up your space so if you are looking for something more spot-light-like, this is probably not for you. They took about 20 minutes to install (I only had 6 of them) and it was very easy. Make sure that you read the instructions prior to attempting an install. They don't take a ton of direct light in order to work so even with overcast, they still do light up at night. I normally go to bed around 11pm so I am not able to determine if they last all night or not.All in all, I think these are a good value for the money.

These are nice solar light posts for the price. They fit a 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5. The 5x5 has a decorative cap but the 3x3 and 4x4 are just square. It woukd have been nice if the 4x4 would have had some decorative edges like the 5x5 does. Check pics for details. Also they are white plastic which does have a noticeable difference in texture and color vs white vinyl but it's not too bad. I don't know how long they will last out in the elements, if they will fade or now. They have a perfect brightness and do stay lit all night so the battery life is more the sufficient for the spring and summer months (i havent had them installed for an entire year and my deck gets sun in the morning throigh mid afternoon so their functionality is sufficient for longer days and shorter nights. They are very easy to install and the build quality is good, you have to consider the price vs quality/quantity as these are a more budget friendly product.

Installed these lights yesterday and was overall very pleased with them. For starters - they are what I would call low profile - they don't stand super tall off of the post that they are mounted on. I like that because, in my case, the deck that they are mounted on is, during warmer weather HEAVILY traveled and the taller the light cap - they more likely it gets hit or knocked around by a tossed football, moving around wicker furniture or other assorted hi-jinks that can occur often on the deck late into the nite. The install was simple with included hardware and the underside interior 'bracket' allows the cap to fit snugly around a 4x4 wooden post which, as you know, is actually more like 3.5x3.5. That bracket is removable if you are mounting the cap on 4x4 vinyl posts which are more true to size. Out of the box and installed during the afternoon under mediocre sun, they all turned on once the sun went down. Keep in mind that these are only accent lighting - they will not be bright enough to light up your space and do anything that would normally require daylight. As accent lighting - they really look phenomenal. I would consider the actual light emitted to be 'warm' as opposed to 'white' light. One more thing that I think is absolutely fantastic is that the cap is modular to the extent that, come the end of season, I will be able to 'pop' the top solar panel part and the clear lens off for basement storage during the winter while leaving the installed base in place - no screwing and unscrewing every season.

I put off setting these up for way too long because I thought it would be a whole project—and now I’m kicking myself. It took maybe five minutes. Easiest thing ever.I have standard wooden fence posts (pretty sure they’re standard—I didn’t measure, just gambled), and these lights fit like a glove. I screwed them into the predrilled holes, and boom, done.I installed them around 3 or 4 PM here in Western North Carolina, so they didn’t get much sunlight (they'd been boxed up in a dark room until then). Plus, our yard is super shady with a ton of oak and pine trees, so I wasn’t expecting much right away. But by nightfall, two of them were already glowing—and they looked amazing! I’m sure the rest will pop on after a full day of sun. They look fantastic, even against our unfinished wood fence (no stain or paint yet). And the difference is unreal—our driveway used to be pitch black, and even with just two lights working, it’s already a massive improvement. Total game changer.Fingers crossed that tomorrow we’ll be at full strength. I’ll update if anything changes, but so far, I’m seriously impressed—and assuming no surprises, I’m absolutely ordering more to finish the whole fence. I can't find any reason to not give 5 stars.

Multiple diodes per light set these apart from other post cap lights. They seem durable and also easy to install, very happy with them

My 25 year old deck is totally made of wood, and it needs to be replaced this year. When we are rebuilding our deck I will be taking some steps to make it look more attractive and be easier to maintain for longer life. Placing aluminum caps on top of the 4x4 wooden end posts of railing sections will be one of those improvements. Not only does it look nicer, but it also helps protect those critical posts from water damage. Using these Solar Post Lights will also provide some extra night light safety as well as a very dramatic visual improvement.I will likely only need 5 to 6 have this 8 pack of solar post cap lights for the actual deck and the stair extension we plan to add. The extras will be kept and used as replacement parts if needed in the future. I currently use a number of solar motion activated lights that turn on at night as you walk along the path around my house. I have found that they usually last for years, and they have been very reliable and easy to repair or maintain when needed. As others have noted, these post cap lights are easy to install, and also to take apart if they need some maintenance.
