This is a 1M ohm pot with pull switch. I used it to replace one from a Fender amp and what I needed was a switch that was closed when the knob was pushed in but this one you pull to close the switch. Also, depending on what this is being used for, you might need an audio/log taper or a reverse audio/log taper. This one is a regular audio taper so the resistance increases logarithmically as you turn the pot clockwise. If it's what you need, it works great and is very good quality.

It was installed in a oldy amp fender but it failed. I understand that of 10 pots one can be bad.

The reason for the drastic volume jump from zero to one or two is due to the carbon resistance sweep in pot. I've disassembled one. On the zero side of sweep, the resistance trace doesn't go all the way to lug. That's why you get nothing, then nothing then bam! Poor design. Mesa sells these. Their fix is to put a 22k resistor in series to lug. I didnt do this and shouldn't have to. Get some decent pots CTS!

kind of the only option for a full size 1m solid shaft pot with a pull switch, but the taper is weird and the switches have a tendency to go intermittent after some use. as for the taper, turning up from zero there is basically no response for a good bit then a sudden jump, then the rest of the taper seems ok. depending on your circuit this could be problematic... it was for me. there is also a lot of slop in the shaft rotation, more-so than other pull-pots i have used. and the switch seems to go intermittent if you look at it funny. i have used about a dozen of these so far (because i can’t find an alternative) and more than half of them have had switch issues. the switch contacts engage weakly such that they’re susceptible to vibrations causing faulty/crackly contact. really wish there was a better option in 1M solid shaft pull pots.

A decent switched pot, but the sweep is different than the alpha part it replaced. “Number 1” on this switch is where volume number two is on the faceplate. There’s no change in volume between zero and one on this pot and the shaft is a bit longer, making the knob a bit taller than the rest.
