Other than it being a very sturdy device, these are the worst USB hubs I've ever owned. I have the misfortune of owning two of these. Today they've been retired to being expensive over glorified USB slow chargers. The microchip inside that manages power and data to each port will lock up. The more you plug and unplug devices from it without rebooting the hub, the higher the risk of a lock up. What's worse is that when it does lock up it overwhelms the computer's USB root hubs which negotiates connections to external devices, forcing you to reboot the entire computer. Also they will occasionally slow down your boot up times as they don't play nice with some BIOSs. This has happened with both my hubs, tested on various machines and devices when troubleshooting.I suggest buying Anker.

So far so good with this hub.I was looking for an overbuilt USB 3.0 hub to connect multiple audio components to my Windows PC.I had to search "USB 3.0 data industrial" to find options like this one but am happy that I dug a little deeper than the typical Anker, Sentry, SIIG, etc... USB hubs. This hub is built solidly from an engineering perspective and the square shape gives you the option to either set it up vertically or on its side (which many current hubs do not offer). I currently have a USB DAC and a Glyph pro audio hard drive connected and everything sounds fine when playing audio through it (no obvious issues with latency or distortion)... My previous attempt with another big PC accessories company ended up injecting static and hash into the signal ruining the audio quality. With the Dyconn in hand I spent about 3 hours yesterday with my two most critical components hooked up to this hub listening to high resolution audio through my PC and couldn't be happier.I will probably buy a USB 3.0 cable with Ferrite Cores to provide an extra level of RF/EMI protection but beyond that, am happy with this hub as is.

okay, I just got this today but thought i should write an initial review based on what I am seeing so far.ProsSolidly constructed unit. I could more than likely use this as a hammer (wouldn't as hammers are cheaper) but it is that solid a constructionWell packaged in a professionally manufactured box, the unit itself packaged in sealed plastic, along with a cable to connect to the computer (bit on that in a second) and a nice little power block.Instruction manual included (English and well-written at that). I've purchased some highly rated hubs that arrived with no documentation and very cheap construction. The cable is very nice, and thicker than most, more than likely to carry power to all ten connectionsNo loose connections. All connections are tight and don't move once connected. This was the issue (at least it appeared so) with the other hubs as invariably I would hear my computer beep as something became disconnected or worse, a short circuit that would either lock up my computer or wouldn't allow the computer to even turn on (could only turn it on after I unplugged el cheapo hub). I took my keyboard usb connection and plugged it into all ten of them and not one loose, movable connectionI have tried my usb 3.0 external drive and it works fine with just the one cable... no power issues yetDid a very quick read-write test using a usb 3.0 thumbdrive (solid state) and no slower than connecting it directly to the computer (met USB 3.0 standards in both cases)ConsIt is big but more than likely that is necessary to support the size of the board the usb sockets are connected to. I wasn't looking at using this as a hub for my laptop and glad I wasn't.... big to carry as a portable device. I am however going to check and see if they have a smaller one that would be more suitable for a laptopOverall, i am so far (albeit one afternoon) very happy with this. No disconnects, no unidentified usb devices messages, no computer lock-ups, etc. Seems solidly constructed of metal (no plastic here) with what appears to be some conscious thought to make it what they call "industrial grade".All of my computers are running Windows 8.1 Pro so I can't speak to compatibility with other operating systems. Will update if anything happens

I purchase this item for a laptop that only has 1 USB 3.0 port. I do allot of data transfers from my laptop to external HD's as back ups. I store mostly photos that I have edited and this device can in handy for the additional ports needed.I use USB 3.0 External HDs and I avg. a transfer rate of about 45-75MB/s (depending on the device I am using) and between 2 external HD transferring files ranging in 5MB to 30MB each file, the transfer rates are very reliable at 50MB/s on avg. and sometimes I see it spike sitting at 75-85MB/s if the device I am using is consistent. Transferring larger files will slow things down, but not by much. If I am transferring files from a powered (external powered) HD to another, I get better speeds that can be as fast as 95MB/s. However, from the experience I have had, the transfer rate will be determined by the device you are using but the USB Hub can handle whatever you throw at it.The USB cable is heavy duty and the housing is made of complete metal which feel much better than the cheaper plastic versions I have used in the past. You will need to use the AC Adapter plugged into the device, it may be a little inconvenience for those looking for portability, but I have this device stationed on my desk so this was a none issue for me.I also use this to charge my phone when I am sitting on my desk, does the job without hitch like it should.Overall the product performs as its advertise and the price isn't too bad either. You can get cheaper ones that are made of plastic, but the feel of this unit is much more sturdy.
