Corrosion resistant anode rods have a history of over 20 years

When a hot water tank is exposed to corrosive water, the sacrificial anode transfers electrons to the inside of the hot water tank to protect it and the anode slowly wears out. Over time, the hot water tank is no longer protected.

To protect your hot water tank, replace the existing anode with a powered anode rod, which will provide better corrosion protection and extend the life of the water heater.

Does not fit gas water heaters. The top part will interfere with the blower motor.

Its been almost 5 months now since I installed this anode. We have terrible water here and have battled bad smelling water for years. This has eliminated the smell completely. I would highly recommend to anyone who has smelly hot water. Cost was way less than some of the other units listed but works just as well.

Maple Grove Minnesota has the worst water in the state! It eats water heaters in less than 5 years. This theoretically should be better than a standard anode from everything I've read.

Installed a new tank (house is on a well, high-iron water, softener and filter) and quite quickly noticed significant rotten egg smell. Although this can be a well problem the smell was in the hot water only. No idea what type of anode was in the new tank, but replacing with this active anode resulted in the smell disappearing within a single tank cycle. The only issues were 1) removing the old anode ….. wow the put those in tight, but that is not the fault of this product and 2) I have no idea if the anode is doing it’s job. A passive anode works by simply existing. This active anode …. Well, the light on the power block is on, but other than that I suppose I will not know until the tank does not corrode away in the next 10 years? No measurable current flow …. So we will see.At least the water does not smell anymore!
