The PM2020 features a sliding headstock, electronic variable speed with low and high speed ranges, and a spindle lock. The enhanced features include a digital RPM readout, built in spindle indexing on the head stock, and a re-designed tailstock with internal storage, chrome trimmed handwheels, and a laser etched quill which is self-ejecting. Additional features include a two-position mount for the optional bed extension, a sliding hammer knockout rod with brass tip, and an attached tool caddy and a metal shelf for tool storage.

The year I got my lathe, the machinery dealer I purchased it from let me know that powermatic had shifted production overseas, but assured me that it was the same quality. That was wrong. After a couple years of moderately heavy use, my lathe has sat virtually unused for several years. When I went to turn it on recently, the electronics were completely dead. The DRO or rpm readout works fine, but the VFD, which powers the lathe, had burned out. Very discouraged, I was told by a Powermatic tech rep that the part is over $900, and that a simple power surge may burn out a VFD. I'm disappointed in what was supposed to be a "lifetime" purchase.

Plan for delays when ordering this lathe. Do not order this lathe from wood craft or CT power tools. Took many months for me to get this lathe. The wait was worth it
