There's little reason these days not to use rechargeable batteries, as the technology gets more and more capable. This charger is able to charge both 1.2v NiMH and 1.5v rechargeable lithium batteries, both AA and AAA. Also in the package are 8 of the 1.5v lithium types, rated at 3,000 mAh, though I have no way of verifying that claim.I tested charging the included batteries as well as mixing in my existing NiMH batteries, and it charged them all with zero issues. Each type blinks and turns solid a different color to distinguish them, and I was able to charge even just one battery at a time, something that wasn't possible with my previous charger that required charging in pairs. The charger in addition to the batteries also includes a USB A to C cable. There's no power adapter included, but any USB adapter that can output 1.5A should work. Interestingly, the charger is rated at 5V/2A, but I was unable to get full 2A out of either a 1.5A rated charger (obviously) nor a USB C charger with a 5V/3A rating. The most I got was around 1.8A which is close enough. Note that the manual says to use the included cable, but I checked that a C to C cable works fine too, so the charger seems to have appropriate Type-C compatibility.I've included a picture where I use a USB-C tester (not included) to verify the amperage draw when charging 8 different batteries, 6 of the included 1.5V lithiums, and 2 NiMH that I had.Highly recommended, and is a great value where you get such a capable charger AND 8 high capacity rechargeable batteries.

After receiving the batteries, I placed them in the charger and waited for them to fully charge. The charger has a few charging indicators, but they can be a bit confusing. A blinking green light indicates charging, while a constant green light means the batteries are fully charged. However, there’s also a constant blue light — and that’s a mystery. Why do we need this light? The manual doesn’t explain it, which adds to the confusion.Once all the batteries showed a constant green light, I measured their voltage output. Most of them read around 1.525V, but a few initially measured over 2V. However, as I kept the meter probe on their terminals, the voltage dropped quickly and stabilized at 1.52V.This behavior isn’t necessarily a problem — it’s common with lithium-based rechargeable batteries. When freshly charged, the batteries may show a surface charge, which can temporarily elevate the voltage above the nominal level. Once the load (in this case, the meter) draws a bit of current, the surface charge dissipates, and the voltage stabilizes at the battery’s true output level — around 1.5V for lithium rechargeables. This is normal and not a sign of a defect, but it’s good to be aware of it when testing or using the batteries.Overall, these batteries are solid performers with consistent voltage output, but the unexplained blue light and initial voltage spike might confuse some users. The manufacturer could improve the user experience by clarifying these points in the manual.
