What is LH surge?

Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is one of the hormones produced by the pituitary gland. It is secreted at very low levels throughout your menstrual cycle. Once a developing egg follicle reaches a certain size, Luteinizing Hormone secretion surges to high levels. This hormone surge is what triggers ovulation about 24 to 48 hours later.

Ovulation is the release of a mature egg from the ovary. It signals the beginning of your fertile period.

So far so good! These are used along with the Natural Cycles app to gauge fertile days. So far they seem to be reading accurately so I don't have any complaints!

I tested these side by side along with another brand that I already trust for accuracy. They do test accurate for the most part with exception to observations related to the digital read. The (++) doesn't seem to apply when your "peak" is a low LH level. For those with cycle irregularities this can be problematic because lower LH levels can be misinterpreted as no rise or a lesser one. That said, these test strips do have a clear viewing window once ejected that can be manually read just as any other test if you need to double check. I love that these beep when ready to read because its easy to forget the test is going while you are doing other things. The kit includes one digital reader and individually wrapped test cartridges, but does not come with a collection cup. Overall this test is accurate, easy to use and comes in a resealable bag. My only caution is to the issue I stated above.

Comes with a single reader and 20 testing strips. Instructions say it can be used as a dip test or a mid-stream test. Easy to read and seems accurate. It also has an app you can use to manually upload and track your ovulation, but it is only supported on iPhones and not Androids.

I rate these digital ovulation tests as 2 stars because I like the digital concept, but they don’t seem to detect well. These tests kept reading negative even as another test read positive. Could it have been user error? There’s a possibility of that, but I’m leaning more towards inaccurate tests.

I like using digital tests when I’m out and about especially traveling or at work because it takes a guest work out of waiting to see the line progression and trying to compare it to the control line. Also, there are a lot more convenient than waiting for the cheapies to dry once I have dipped them in the urine and the dye has started to rise. I put them in my bag leave them flat and I can go on about my day instead of waiting for the cheapie to completely dry to see the results compare them with my pre-Mom strips and they are just as accurate and worked well.
