I had previously bought a new ironing board cover, but as I was pressing the fabric, could feel all the metal ridges of the ironing board on my fabric. I decided I needed additional padding so I purchased this product and it works great. It was big enough that I could cut it to the exact size of my board and it fit well under my new cover.

I ordered this thinking I would need to add to my ironing board I ordered also. This pad is not thick as described and since the ironing board I ordered came (surprisingly) with a very cushy pad under the cover, I am sending this back. It is not as advertised. If you were just going to use this singulary by itself you would be disappointed but if you were buying this to ADD to an already existing thin pad then this would work.

This padding is very thick and creates sufficient space between your iron and the metal of the ironing board. A conventional metal ironing board typically will leave marks or the metal webbing on your clothes if u accidentally press too hard. This padding absolutely prevents that

I have a reliable ironing board, which comes with a cover that is too thin; the metal frame under the cover was easily felt from above. i had trouble finding a properly sized felt pad to put between the metal board and the reliable cover, but this one fit very well. i just had to lay the board on top of the felt, mark it, and cut down with scissors. took 5 minutes to install, and now my ironing board is much, much more effective. This should be original equipment on all reliable ironing boards.

This is the best ironing board cover I have ever owned. Really padded and makes ironing so much easier. Installed it in a few minutes and the wrinkles came out when ironing. Also purchased extra padding, but I really did not need it, for the cover is amazing all by itself. :)
