I have to admit that I took the advice of other reviewers of this product as saying to pre-drill your screw holes and start the screws in the holes (I measured 8 inch intervals from screw hole to the next across a 3 ft total length - and yes, I cut the bumpers in half). This action will allow you to free up one of your hands to position the bumper on the pillon and use the other hand to finish putting the screw into the wood (I used a drill with a Phillips head bit). Also, putting the screws into the edges of the bumpers fist will also help not dropping screws into the water. Doing this preliminary step made it fast and easy to complete putting up six bumpers. The 6 foot bumpers that they come to you in were too long for my dock (on a lake) so I cut them in half (3 ft lengths) with a hacksaw (also gave me more pieces for more protection across more pillons). See pic, they look great and more importantly will keep my boat from getting scratched up.I forgot to mention I used stainless steel #10 phillips head screws and like washers. You need stainless steel as the metal won’t rust over time. You should be able to find them related to this product.

Needed protection for the swim platform hitting the dock so this worked perfectly. There is plenty of cushion and it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb lol.. not only was it a great color for matching the dock it was the perfect size for our 260 sundancer.Don't hesitate to purchase cause I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I am.
