Your cart is empty.Carriage bolts feature a slightly rounded head and have no exposed sharp edges when fully fastened. Due to that reason, they are often used when a more aesthetic look is desired. They are commonly used on docks and on playground equipment or in cases where it may be difficult to reach the bolt head with a tool. The square shoulder on carriage bolts help to hold it in place while the nut is fastened.

Advertised as 1/4-20 threads, but 3 different brands of 1/4-20 nuts would not thread onto any of the bolts I tried. My thread gauge says these should work, but they must be off pitch just a bit as every nut I tried ended up jamming before it was fully threaded onto every bo0lt I tried. These same nuts do thread onto other 1/4-20 bolts I've got in the shop. I returned these. The replacements, a different brand, work fine on all the nuts I tried. Don't waste your time with these.
