A couple years ago I was thrilled to find a keyed lock for my sliding glass door since this is the door we prefer to use regularly. After about a year, I found that it didn't always lock. In examining it, I saw that the keeper had a little notch chipped/worn out so the lock was not hooking in properly. I replaced it with this keeper and it worked beautifully. However, after another 2 years, same problem. I searched to see if there was another brand or material that would hold longer, but did not find anything. This was a pretty easy and inexpensive fix, so I just purchased 2 of them so I could have an extra on hand, knowing it will eventually wear out.Installing took all of 5 minutes. I just unscrewed the old one and screwed in the new one. Finished business, done!

It replaced the Keeper I posted in the picture. The underside of the keeper has a T reinforced pattern so it wont chip away like the old keepers.

This sliding door keeper does not have an opening in the top as indicated in the picture, which is what I wanted so that I could use it upside down since the one that came with the patio door lock mechanism that I ordered does not work as it doesn’t reach far enough into the lock opening to be able to latch it.

The product images clearly show a rectangular opening on the "top" of the latch body (so there is a pass through in the latch). My door lock requires this pass through to function properly. The product that arrived (despite having the same model number) DID NOT have this opening and the top of the latch was a solid, flat surface. Was not worth hassle of return for the price, instead I used a drill and a Dremel to create a hole big enough to work for my door. Other than that, it seemed to be a better quality and finish casting than was originally installed.
