Your cart is empty.This Ball Catch by Prime-Line Products is constructed of diecast and steel components and comes finished in a satin nickel plating. The drive-in ball catch features a 3/4 inch x 1-3/16 inch barrel with a steel ball, spring and strike plate. This ball catch is designed to provide a spring-loaded latching system where a standard door knob latch bolt is not required and/or desired. These drive-in ball catch latch devices remain concealed from view once installed, and they’re generally used on a pair of swinging double doors with dummy knob hardware.

The house we bought a few years ago has multiple double closet doors. I thought is was my family overfilling the closets but it was pointed out to me that it was the door latches not latching. Amazon and these latches came through for the win. Easy to remove the broken and swap out the hardware. Now the latches match the handles and hinges too.

It has an adjustment nut what tends to turn on itself due to the vibration caused by the door. The same issue though is with all the other brands I was using. I guess design. Maybe some locktite will fix this.

There’s a bit of ambiguity about the diameter of this ball catch. The diagram says 3/4” and the description says 1”. At first I was worried it wouldn’t be an exact fit to replace my existing ball catch, which was 1” when measured using the outer metal ring which surrounds the ball itself. I am pleased to confirm this one is the same. Replacement was quick and easy using a screwdriver. I’m ordering a few more to have on hand the next time one of these fails.

Replacements for the two year old junk ones the contractor put in. These work well and just make a small snick sound when you open and close the door.
