This case is made of hard plastic with egg crate type foam inside the lid and thick foam with cut outs in the bottom section. The latches secure well and can't be accidentally unlatched because in addition to a slide lock, there are tabs that must be pressed down in order to open them. The box is much lighter duty than a Pelican style case, but it is well constructed and has a gasket around the lid that forms a tight seal. I did not submerge it, but I ran water over the case in the tub and there was no moisture inside when I opened it. I believe the case offers decent protection, but at the current price point a Pelican knock off like the Apache case from Harbor Freight is a better investment.

This is an excellent protective hard-shell case with top-notch rigidity, hinges, latches, handle, safety-type locking latches, and an integrated air bleed valve. Everything fits inside the customized insert as shown, which is removed easily if you need to use this case for another purpose. The price is eminently reasonable and a super value for the quality and features, there are many cases of inferior quality and functionality priced higher than this one here on Amazon. Highly recommended.
