I used this to install pistons on a Ford 390 (FE). This made the job extremely easy and fast.I would recommend and buy again.

It served its purpose installing the pistons in my ls motor, however by the 6th piston it was getting pretty wore and started to have trouble with it trying to either slip inside the cylinder with the piston or rolling the edge back allowing the rings to pop out of the groove and catch the deck. You get what you pay for and for 27 bucks I can’t complain. Next time I will definitely buy a bore size specific tapered installer.

Good for someone just trying to do a rebuild one time but not great for repeated use. I had to resize it a few times while using it.

This is really the only piston ring compressor you’ll ever need. It’s not as complicated as those band clamp ones, and it certainly isn’t as expensive as the fixed tapered ones. All you do with this one is slide the piston inside, tighten the clamp, and hammer your piston in. It’ll work with virtually any piston size.

Works great as a adjustable ring compressor but not as a tapered ring compressor. You still need to loosen the tool to get a piston and the rings to compress and then adjust the tool to compress the rings unlike a tapered ring compressor were you just insert the tool and push down on the piston to compress the rings.
