422-4001c is the larger diameter heavy duty adjustable shock unit. I installed it on my Big Dog ‘04 Chopper. Perfect fit. Rides firm but no hard impacts on bumpy roads. At the shortest adjustment my bike dropped about 1/2”. I love them! The 4035c is the standard unit and will also fit. It’s a smaller diameter shock cylinder. I have learned both the 4001c and 4035c will fit on the ‘03 BDM Chopper as well. Wish I had these earlier. My bike feels solid!

Installed them on my sons 1998 fat boy. They were good for a little over one year when one of them locked up and sheared the bolt off in the rear swing arm. It was no fun removing the rear swing arm to remove the broken bolt. It may have been a defective part but I would not recommend them. If the company would like them back to test for any defects, I will be happy to send them to you.

perfect fit on 2004 kraft/tech softail frame. arrived set to my riding weight / height so did not need to adjust. came with free adjustment spanner wrench. very easy install using my snap-on auto floor jack under rear wheel to keep swing arm at shock removal and installation height. i tossed old mounting washers and added new SS washers from local hardware store, to make all new at install. after riding a few hundred miles i softened damping slightly as ride was a bit to stiff around sharp turns at highway speeds. adjustment was easy and quick. no complaints.

I had the stock replacement Progressives, 422-1003C for 10 years. They rode OK, but were out of adjustment for load. Heard of these & had to try them. What a difference. I recommend them highly to anyone that needs new shocks, not just those of us with big motors & touring bags.

These shocks Improved the handling of the bike (FXSTC) more than I expected, if you are still running stock shock, I would highly recommend up-grading to the Progressive shocks. With the right tools and repair manual, installation can be done at home. It takes a few times to get the correct setting (for two up), everybody likes different rides.
