Of all the crab traps I have used. I like this style and have 6 of them now. Easy to put bait in them and not to heavy to pull up.

Beautifully made, heavy duty trap. Just not for blue crabs…as it says

A little on the pricey side but a well constructed pot. There are two minor flaws that people should check for.1) Make sure the legs of the wire that make the swinging door are not spread too far apart. If they are too far apart, crab can walk out the trap. If they are too wide… just bend them narrower.2) Before you use the pot, swing each of the three doors all the way up. Do this a few times each. Based on how they are positioned, sometimes they can get caught on the roof of the trap and remain open (letting crab escape). Test at home. If the doors get caught… bend/adjust them until they don’t. I also shortened/cut some of the wire doors since they seemed a bit long.

i buy a lot on Amazon and rarely write reviews, but this is worst crab pot i have used in over 20 years of crabbing in Puget Sound, with several different brands of heavy duty pots. i crab all summer every year in front of our house, so am not a novice when it comes to dungeness crab. this trap is badly designed and the entrances don't stay closed, the wires closing off entrances don't see heavy enough. this pot is empty when other pots around have lots of crab. i have tried to use the built in bait cage and putting bait cages in the trap. nothing worked. i missed the return window so am now stuck with a useless crab pot
