It helps to have two, one for each tank on my camper. I already had one, so it was nice to share one with a fellow camper friend at nearly the same expense as purchasing one.

I purchased this for my camper being that I use a propane Mr. Buddy heater to stay warm in the cooler months. The gauge glows in the dark for a while, although my doesn't anymore after a couple of months of use. It also acts like a vehicle fuel gauge where the "top half of the tank has more than the bottom half." Essentially the gauge will read green for quite a while, even with no temperature fluctuation. Then, it drops down to yellow and by the time it's in the red, it is time to replace the tank. I use a standard 20 lbs tank and it will last me for about 4-5 days on low. not until day 3.5-4 does the tank drop to yellow then into the red on the 5th day. If you cannot judge the quantity of gas you have by the weight, this gauge will be able to let you know you have a good amount of propane left, but by the time it gets to yellow, it lets you know to swap the tank out. Ie. It will last the rest of the 4th night, but you better replace it before the 5th night. I hope this helps!

Some people have complained that this only registers up to a half tank but I found that if you give it sufficient time to register, it will actually read correctly. I knew my tank was at least 80% and even though it registered as being half full almost immediately, when I went back to check it again a few hours later, it was right where it was supposed to be.

Awesome valves provided you're aware of their actual function. Propane gas is pressured fuel. It compresses & expands with temperature. These valves measure the PRESSURE not the actual level. As long as you're in the green or the top level of yellow you have adequate amount of propane. Keep in mind when it's in the yellow you soon will need to have replacement or refill. These are extremely well built and are high quality. No fears purchasing these.
