I use this to start my Fireplace and it works very well. The igniter seems solid, the Torch gets VERY hot and I can start even damp wood in minutes. The tip is blue because of the really hot ability of this torch. I recommend this device for anyone looking for a self starting torch tip.

UpdatedIt lasted meaby a a month a half, now the control knob doesn’t complete close the propane bottle , which means it always allows propane to leak. Tried getting a refund but they have a short window . So it’s a cheap option for a reason. You decide if you want to gambleFor the price you can complain, only thing is that the tip gets bright red really fast, you gotta adjust that flame to the point it doesn’t. But overall fair price for the quality !

The torch works well for the price, but the igniter of the torch stopped working after one day. I had to use another ignition source to light it. Next time I would pay for the torch that comes with the canister.

When it stays lit its awesome. But it hardly ever stays lit for more than a few seconds. Would not recommend with how this one has worked. It’s usable but is a constant aggravation. Will be buying a different one soon.

worked smoothly and well right from first. have had good experience with the long stem propane torches for yard work burning, but the igniters failed on both. decided to try smaller torch which should work for most purposes. will see how durable it is in occasional use.

NOTE: I came back and updated this review from 3-Star to 1-Star after a couple months of use. This thing is junk; flame sometimes goes out if held horizontal, impossible to use pointed-down because the flame tries to come out the vent-holes if the vents are higher than the nozzle opening. Completely useless. I left my previous review below:Pros:- Inexpensive- Igniter works fairly well / consistently- Gas valve allows range of heat controlCons:- Gas valve constantly fluctuates, like it is icing-up internally, so you have to fiddle with the knob to keep the heat at the level you want- Will blow flame out if you fully open gas valve- Nozzle above gas valve swivels by design, so if you lay the tank on its side the nozzle will drift into a different position. Makes 2-handed soldering a little more difficultI've used other MFG's torch-heads for years, and those always work great for a few tanks until they eventually stop igniting / holding flame (carbonized internally?). This torch head is too new for me to tell if this will have the same problem too, but so-far so-good.

Im kinda impressed. This was the cheapest pencil torch I could find and It has more power than my more expensive all brass torch heads. You can see by the photo the tip does get bright orange so time will tell if it will last or keep up the impressive flame but you can see it produces a sharp long flame and the photo doesnt show the orage part of the flame but its longer. They claim some 3600° but I gotta call BS on that cuz the tip would melt off before getting there. I noticed that they use a solid cilinder with a tiny little hole vs what the others use is a small very delicate mesh for building up the gas pressure. Ive ruine several torches trying to clean that part up so this one might last a little while. I also noticed that head pivots. Its not super loose so it doesnt flop around but its kinda usefull to flip that flame without moving the whole tank. I havent yet tried to melt anything with it just yet but from the look of that flame its going to be no problem at all.
