I bought a new Shellhead and stylus for my Panasonic turntable. I spoiled myself and got the equipment to set it up correctly . This is something I don't use everyday but it's nice to know the weight is set . I tried it by feel at first but I was way off .

I had to resurrect an old dinosaur turntable in order to convert my old LP collection over to digital. After setting up the azimuth and tracking, I needed to set the tone arm tracking weight. In the old days, I had a balance beam type scale that was, frankly, a pain to use without something moving. This little device is a snap! Place the stylus on the center mark and read the display. Adjust, repeat. Easy! The turntable came back to life in no time, (aside from about 15 years of dust.) So, if you are just getting started with vinyl, or bringing an old friend back to life, this scale is about as easy as it gets.

Super cheap thing to have at your disposal. Works great and does its job. Comes with a weight and nice case. Can’t beat it for price

Simple to use for those who think otherwise. Pros - it won't break the bank. Cons - it looks and feels like like a child's toy - very light and fragile. However, as the title says - it gets the job done.

My old (80's) Sansui Turntable is equipped with an ultra-light carbon fiber tonearm, with that the cartridge and stylus use very light tracking forces. The process of zeroing out the balance weight by a zero balance withe the arm free to balance horizontally is a general adjustment that produces an error depending on the weight of each head-shell cartridge combination to the tonearm. the balance method being set to 1.5gm and then checked with the scale showed 1.35 gm on my turntable. This is on the low side even with this combination. So, increasing the actual weight to 1.5 gm has a clear effect on the sound quality. This tracking force scale did a fine job and since I have 2 different quality cartridges of different weight I will rely on it often.

Honestly I thought it was overkill to buy this, but figured let's play it safe. I changed the cartridge on my turntable, and went from an Ortofon Red to a Nagaoka MP-110. Never done that before, and I was a little concerned about the process.Well, it was surprisingly very easy. I think this scale really is the price of tranquility. I wouldn't want to apply too much pressure on my records and risk to damage them, and this scale confirmed me that I wouldn't. It happens that the weight shown on my tone-arm (from a pro-ject debut carbon) was perfectly accurate, and all this scale did was confirming it. And that's something I was happy to pay $12.99 for. No need to worry about anything, I can just enjoy the music.Does what it says it does. Definitely not something I would consider critical in a turntable setup but a useful nice-to-have.

I do not pretend to be an audiophile, but I do have, and listen to, a lot of vinyl and I take care of my phono and like to know it's properly set up. I've always been unsatisfied with the standard procedure for balancing the tone arm and bought this mini scale to see how close I've been coming to the correct balance. It is very gratifying to be able to actually measure the balance. It turns out my balance was off a bit. Not much, but now I know it's right on.I am a scientist and I happen to have several calibrated balances (scales) in my home and lab. I compared the accuracy of this unit to two of my calibrated balances and found it to be very close - off by I am very happy I bought this, even though it will spend most of its life in a drawer It's pretty much a use-once-and-put-away device, but if you don't know someone who has one, you pretty much need to buy your own. Fortunately, the price is fair and modest and well worth the satisfaction of knowing your tone arm is set up correctly. I suppose if you're still COVID-cooped up at home you could always use this to do that study of the weight variability in a box of Cheerios you always wanted to do, or something equally interesting.

This scale, which seems identical to many others on the market (possibly one manufacturer with many retailers), works well for the purpose. I checked it against a digital kitchen scale and an old slide scale and it appears to be accurate. With the help of this little jobbie I was able to correct the VTF on my turntable - apparently, my counterweight is off by 0.15 oz.When I unpacked it and put in the batteries it initially failed to function. I removed the batteries and played with tweaking the contacts for the batteries, then reinstalled them. After a couple tries it worked just fine. The storage case that came with it is pretty cheap and crummy, but the cover for the scale itself fits properly and does a fine job of protecting the important parts.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and would buy this scale again if I needed one.
