I want to preface that I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this bag.. Recently the latch on my hardshell case broke. Naturally replacements are out of stock and have been for awhile; so I began looking for a replacement case all together. I prefer a good gigbag over a hardshell case as they're typically more versatile, less cumbersome while offering similar if not better protection. I started doing my research as it has been awhile since I was in the market for a case, and Mono bags came highly recommended, as well as Gator bags. I've owned Gator cases in the past when I played gigs more regularlyand have had positive experiences. My only gripe with those 2 is the price, Mono especially. Not saying anything bad about them, I'm sure they're fantastic bags, but for something that I'm now only going to use a handful of times a year, I wasn't willing to shell out that much money for a gigbag. I kept researching and came across this bag; also highly recommended for significantly less money than a Mono. I looked at the specs and features, but became worried when I saw a couple reviews saying that the bag was on the smaller side and a regular Stratocaster wouldn't fit inside. The guitar that I was planning on putting in is a Jackson HT7 - 26.5" scale 7 string, 40" overall length; the exact length measurement of the bag. Since I really liked the price and the features of the bag I decided to just go for it and see if it worked out. It did. The guitar fits like a glove. While its a "soft" case, it has a rigid frame offering great protection. I really like that the case has the adjustable neck support with the strap to lock it down. The exterior pockets offer an ample amount of space to store strings, picks, cables, straps, etc. It was exactly what I was looking for and it delivered. So to anyone that may have a similar extended range guitar, this case will certainly work for you and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I bought a Vox SDC-33 which came with a pretty standard, flimsy gig bag like most guitars. An angled headstock is begging for damage and the typical padding does not provide Any protection from a fall or strong bump or crushing (in any direction). Add to that the length of this model is more than most guitars. It was tough to find a suitable case (gig bag, wood, polyfoam or other). I searched long and hard before I took a chance on this one. An SG has different body curves, I had to consider teardrop/universal shapes...The main advantage of the Protec is the hard frame and plastic sheets which give WAY more protection than even Mono. Materials are nice, fairly 'premium' but the neck block which pads the neck and holds up the hardstock is insufficient. It would be fine for any straight headstock but as I said before, angled headstock is the Achilles' heel! So I crafted a more substantial block out of hard foam insulation. This was a bit tedious but necessary IMO given that I really like this guitar and want to protect it in a serous way. For a majority of guitar models, this is about the best protection your money will buy aside from a hard case but it weighs less and has the added shoulder straps and pockets. I do think the materials will wear well over time and I believe this is a truly high end product without going into ultra premium prices like Reunion Blues, Anthology, Mono. Bravo to Protec for a VERY well designed product!

I have had many gig bags over the years. But this one is by far the best I have purchased. There are many compartments but what was surprising. It had a zip pouch where the neck seats for the picks. I'm very happy that I purchased this. I highly recommend this gig bag.

To start off, this is an EXCELLENT gig bag! I wanted a sturdy, well made, yet classy-looking bag that would house my beloved 2011 Squier Classic Vibe 60s Strat (Made in China 1st Edition), and this does absolutely the trick. I have a Mono Vertigo case that I used to use for this Strat and others. Don’t get me wrong — Mono is fantastic and has served me well, and I’ll keep using their products in the future! But something about this Protec gig bag speaks louder and — in a way — better suits my Strats. I’m a huge John Mayer fan, and I guess this Protec bag reminds me of the Incase gig bag that came with his signature Fender Strat. This is an excellent product, and I can tell it will last for a long time (I’m talking years!). I has a generous amount of pockets that come in various sizes. The inside of the bag is well padded and protects my Strat very well. Snug fit, too! There are two small, square removable cushions that can be fashioned around as you like on the inner lining of the bag; they were located at the lower bout area of the guitar when I first opened it up, but I soon after moved them around to better position the guitar so that it’s centered as well as the neck. I fashioned one on the treble-side horn so that the Strat is better centered, and that did the trick! The fit is a bit snug (in a good way). I see a lot of people commenting that standard Strats don’t fit in this, but my Squier fits super well, and it is a full-sized, full-thickness Strat-style guitar just like genuine Fenders! The backpack straps — which I did not picture — are also excellent and feel durable. They’re also very comfortable! All in all, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, cheap, and good-looking gig bag for their Strat-style or Tele-style guitars!

I own both the guitar and the bass version and they are my go to case/bag for routine schlepping. There are internal hard plastic sheets which offer nearly case like protection. If I knew I could carry this onboard the plane I wouldn’t hesitate to fly with this. In the hold? Maybe not. While the case/bag offers superior protection against dings and short falls, it wouldn’t offer much crush protection. However, I don’t fly to gigs much now, so this case/bag is what I reach for first. The handle, the fabric, the zippers & pulls, the neck support, and especially the backpack straps are all well designed, high quality, and durable. The pocket organizers are minimal to non-existent, but I bought this to protect my guitar, not organize my bits and bobs. I would rate this one of the best and most satisfying gear purchases that I’ve made. They are heavier than nearly any other case/bag, but they also offer better protection because of that increased mass. A top notch product.

Nice well made case for the money. It's a bit heavier than a well padded gig bag but it offers good protection and seems to made of good materials. Good storage too. Handles on both sides of the zipper. Some of the seam stitching missed the cloth so it became unravelled. I decided to exchange it. I'm waiting on the replacement case.

Great case at a good price. Very sturdy, well made, only gripe is that it’s a little too snug. Anything bigger than a Stratocaster or telecaster will have a hard time fitting.

This case will protect your gear for sure!! But it is kind of heavy and a bit bulky. But that is a good thing! I was hoping it would be a little more lightweight but its fine! its still more lightweight than at raditional hardshell case.

I absolutely love this case. It is strong and holds my PRS 513 like a dream. It even looks kind of small, but it fits the guitar very well. The material, zippers, and pocket space is enough for me when I am traveling light. The hideaway straps are also good.I have had it for a couple of months now, and I like it better than my Ritter, which is coming apart at the seams.

I tried a Mono Vertigo, it was rubbish, poor workmanship, zip sticking, neck block out of line.Returned it and replaced it with the Contego. Much better quality.

I needed a durable, lightweight case for my Tele and this fit the bill perfectly. For a soft case, the exterior shell is rugged and has a sturdy, compact feel. The velcro strap for the guitar neck is a nice touch and keeps baby all cozy and warm. Plenty of pocket space for picks, sheet music, laptop, even a couple pedals. The backpack straps are padded and comfortable, and secure easily with velcro when not it use. Very happy with my purchase. This case is a winner!
