I bought this because I was required to use a bell cover on my bass trombone. I can say it definitely does the job of keeping droplets from escaping because every time I used it my bell section filled up with water. I was like a French horn player pulling valve slides out to empty them.

I hate using this, but I am happy with how easy it works, and that it only very minimally interferes with my sound.

I was a little worried ordering this bell cover since it had a range of 9-11". I didn't know how loose it would be on my 9.5" bass trombone bell. It turns out that it fits perfectly and isn't loose at all. Exactly what I was expecting.The only thing I wish it had was some type of filter. I have another bell cover for my tenor that is a MERV 13 rated filter, and I'm not even sure if this double layered material is going to help eliminate droplets that may be released from my bell. My hope is that it does, but I would feel more comfortable if it actually had a filter inside too.I ordered this as an emergency as I needed it within a week which is why I purchased this one off of amazon versus ordering one with a filter. But Protec makes decent stuff (i've owned 2 of their cases and mouthpiece pouches), so I hope this one does what it is supposed to do.

When you use, you need to remove if you want to use an instrument stand during performances. So, if you take of the cover to use an instrument stand, then you need to futz around to put it back on before your next entrance. I did not notice any change in sound or restistance when using it. It makes me wonder does this do anything other than look like a mask cover.

I am using it on a 10" Benge bass trombone and feels like it does not add any resistance. Fits very well, not difficult to get on unlike other bell covers I have used in the past. Highly recommended for bass trombone or other instrument with a similar bell size. It also fits onto the 12" bell on my euphonium, but only just. It is best suited for things 11" or under, as the product description suggests. I have not subjected it to long-term use, but I do not foresee there being any quality issues down the road. If you are worried about the quality of this product, it is well made. Would absolutely buy again.
