As it is pressuring up, the low pressure will switch as soon as the setting is reached. It never gets a chance to reach the high pressure setting. Basically, there is no deadband whatsoever and is constantly triggered on the low side only. Also, I paid $2.90 for shipping to get this vacuum switch from the supplier in the US. It doesn't work properly. Now they want me to pay to ship it back to China. The cost of the shipping is more than the item is worth. I should only be expected to ship it back to where I got it from. This is completely un ethical transaction by this company.

This is the actual switch you see used in all the kits. Save quite a bit of money by going to the source. Mine came directly from Newark.

I used this vacuum switch to regulate my power brake vacuum pump on my El Camino. The old vacuum switch never worked properly. It would allow the vacuum to always drop too low (13inhg) when I was braking. I was able to adjust the vacuum to 18 inhg-25inhg with this one. Brakes work great now. Too bad companies selling their vacuum pump kits for cars don't include this switch instead of the unreliable non adjustable switches.

I bought this vacuum switch to regulate a power brake booster vacuum pump in a custom automotive installation. The options for a switch of this type are pretty limited out there - surprisingly - so I was hoping it would get the job done well. In the end, it does. I was able to set it to about 22inHG by bench testing it with a vacuum pump and gauge. It has a dead band of 3-4 inHG, which means that the switch opens at 18-19 inHG and closes at about 22inHG, which is exactly what I needed to operate the vacuum pump to keep my power brake booster at the optimal vacuum for braking. If the story ended there, it would have been a five-star product. However, I find that often, when satisfied at 22inHG, the switch will chatter or "bounce", causing the relay that it's driving (and therefore the pump) to cycle on and off rapidly several times before settling into a static off-state. This is not really good for the switch, the relay, or the motor in terms of wear and longevity, so it's not ideal.I'm in contact with the seller who has been responsive thus far, and I'm waiting on a final determination. They tell me that they're going to look into whether or not this is expected behavior for the switch (which would be shocking if it were). If it is, they say they'll offer to return it, and if not they'll send a replacement. I'll be back to update this review once the issue is resolved.UPDATE: The seller agreed that the switch should not be bouncing and sent me a replacement. Switch is now good to go, and performs as expected. Thanks!

This is the only vacuum switch I could find to operate my brake booster vacuum pump. Has a several inch range in on-off operation. I have it set around 23" of hg. Note that the other vacuum switch sold on amazon had no range and its adjustment capability was non-existent.
