Recently I had to task of connecting some new pipe to an old 1/2 inch PVC pipe in the ground. I wanted to use pex for that because I needed a bit more resistance to the few frost days we have here. It was a really hard task to go from the old NTS PVC to the PEX - which is sized according to the Copper Pipe Size. It threw me for quite a while because the 1/2 inch PVC pipe was barely smaller than the 3/4 inch PEX - 0.84 vs 0.88 - just different enough that it could not be glued. I still ended up gluing but used JB Weld. Had I had this threading kit earlier I could have just cut theads on the pipes and fittings and put them together with Teflon tape.

I used it as soon as it arrived on half inch conduit requiring treads, it worked perfectly.
