This slider volume control by Pyle works well and has a smooth operation with a number of small detents along its volume range. The volume does not cut out between the detents (IIRC there are about 12 steps) and at its lowest setting the volume is zero. No discernible hum or other interference was noted. Because of the size of the electronics, plenty of space needs to be planned for behind the controller to make room for wiring and the depth of the PCBs and components. The slide itself is sized to fit a standard Decora plate, however, even using a low voltage frame (not an enclosed electrical box) the opening of a standard old construction frame barely allows the electronics to slide in due to the height of the PCB being virtually exactly the same dimension of the height of the opening. This is made even more difficult depending upon the gauge of your speaker wires. I was just able to slide in the eight 14 gauge leads into the old construction low voltage frame by carefully pre-forming the bends in the wiring to clear the opening and the space behind the wall (for those of you who do not know the difference between “old” and “new” construction electrical boxes should talk to your local Home Depot). One other thing about the construction of the volume controller is that the PCB and its solder joints are completely open (as is the rest of the electronics) and exposed so it is important not to use a metal frame nor mount next to metal stud construction in order to prevent shorting out any of the components. Also, moisture prone areas should also be avoided. Another thing you should be aware of is that this comes with a certificate for a 5 year warranty (or as worded on the certificate, a “5 YEARS WARRANTY”. When you register your device, you will receive an email confirmation that you have received a “standard 3 year warranty”. You will need to contact Pyle via their email system (there are no phone reps and absolutely no phone number listed on their website) to get the correct 5 year warranty period. This also happened when I received the “standard” 3 year warranty on my Pyle speakers, even though they were advertised as having a “LIFETIME WARRANTY”. Pyle did respond almost immediately (the same day) to my email informing them of the problem and corrected the warranty period, so props to Pyle for their customer service and response time.

Connected to exterior ceiling speakers to be able to control volume from the sunroom but it altered the sound quality so much that I ended up removing it, could work for a waiting room where sound quality isn’t needed I guess but definitely not for a home!

Liked slide volume control as opposed to prior rotary. Very difficult to install that many wire terminations and get to fit in the box. So a bit too thick to install inbox and not quite flush after put on cover. One annoying detail was switch is slightly larger than standard wall plate. One can use wall plate that came with the volume control, but found I had to file the metal decorative cover I bought separately. However it ended up more flush due to the thickness of volume control.

Purchased three units to control 3 different zones in my home. Units do not fit in a regular Gang box or a plastic box. You must use a low voltage box which essential is an open frame with an open box. If you try to install two side by side you cannot use a regular wall plate cover - the opening is slightly to small. One control play's louder then the other - I cannot confirm if it's an issue with my amp or the volume control... I'm leaning towards the control being the issue.Overall I would just avoid it buying this. Spend the extra money an buy a rus-sound or high name brand.

Well, only four out of the eight spots for the speakers work. Package was damaged when it finally arrived. Was suppose to be delivered May 14 and came on the 22nd. Not impressed at all.

I bought this to replace another that was defective. The circuit board is way too big. It never could be hooked up.The slider tabs are cheap. No directions for impedance setting. It says use the default setting if you don't know but there is nothing to to say what the default setting it.There is no up/down indicator, so you have to hook it up and test it to know the direction.Beyond a bad design in multiple ways. Don't bother!!!

Excellent quality for Pyle. Be honest you didn't buy it for quality. This is a price driven purchase. The slide is firm and responsive through all volume levels. When installing you will find it is very large, you can't use the low voltage gangs at Lowes or Home Depot.Overall very happy. Not my first Pyle purchase definitely not my last.

Used this for our in wall audio system. Replaced an old unit which had some issues. The device installed easy and worked as expected. The sound quality was a bit better then my previous, that was picked up from a local hardware store.
