This will not stand up to rough handling or foul weather, but for a cheap, disposable item it has more features than other units in this price range. Initially the voice amplification did not function (the siren sound did, though), but after opening and reclosing the battery case and turning it back on it did work. I have not gotten much feedback as to the clarity of the voice amplification, but indications are that it's not great (people just a short distance away seemed to have some difficulty understanding what I was saying).
