Constructed from lightweight, breathable, and recycled Pertex Shield 2.5 Layer waterproof fabric, this packable piece offers ample coverage when skies turn gray. The regular fit wears easily over t-shirts and midlayers alike, while the articulated sleeves mean you can scramble to the summit unrestricted.

Schnelle Lieferung. Jacke ist sehr leicht, Material wirkt hochwertig. Eher eng geschnitten, dickes Fleece etc passt nicht drunter.

Very sad I expect a lot more from rab. The quality and fit is good, but it is not waterproof. I have had the jacket for 2 days. Just got back from a hike in the rain which wicked straight through. Good thing it wasn't freezing. This is a nice, fashionable wind shell, but is definitely not waterproof.

The jacket is light and very breathable. I have not yet had it out in a heavy rain, so I can’t vouch for the waterproofing. Tab recommends re-proofing every 10 wears, which seems extreme to me. But I have worn it (with pit zips open) during exercise and I can vouch for the breathability.

Beim ersten Einsatz im Regen hat die Jacke nach 20 Minuten Wasser durchgelassen. Als Regenjacke ist sie nicht zu gebrauchen.

I’ll start this by saying that when a piece of rain gear says “waterproof,” it doesn’t mean waterproof forever. It means that it’ll be waterproof for a certain duration, and after that you will get wet underneath. Guaranteed. The price variation you see when comparing different models gets you (1) better details (like sealed zippers and better body heat vents) and (2) longer waterproof duration. So keep the above in mind, as it’s a truth you don’t want to ignore. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.I do a lot of hiking. Scotland twice. Ireland twice. Italian Dolomites. Patagonia. Banff. My first couple rain jackets were budget - but still good - choices, namely lower-end Marmot and REI models. They were fine, but not great. They had decent materials and details, but the waterproof duration just wasn’t that impressive.IMO, the Rab Downpour Plus 2.0 is the BEST jacket you can get in this price range. To do better, you’d have to step up to something like the Arc’teryx Beta series, which is considerably more expensive. (And is considered the gold standard.)This Rab has everything you’d want from a higher-end piece of rain gear with a palatable price: sealed zippers. Perfect vent placement. Large hood with reinforced edges and a cinch adjustment. Is the waterproof duration as long as something like the Arc’teryx Beta? No, but it’s close. I’ve hiked in this in 6+ hours of driving Patagonian rain, and it was still keeping me dry. Everyone else was soaked under their rain jackets, and I was damp only on the shoulders. Again, this weather was AWFUL, nobody was dry. This was when I realized Rab makes really good freaking gear, and won me over immediately. Can you get better if you double (or triple) the price? Sure. Spend $450 and you’ll get the best the market has to offer. Is this Rab the absolute best deal in its price range? Without a doubt. If you want the very best, prepare to spend about $500, maybe a little less. If you want one notch down and to save a bunch of money, the Downpour Plus 2.0 is about the best option I’ve come across.
