They still work fine but when everything changed to digital, I could not hear much except theweather channels. But they were worth the price at the time I bought them.

the light was not working, not sure if it got damaged in the delivery, other than that I like it.

Can't get it to work. I have tried and tried. Was thinking about taking it out to RadioShack and see if they can program it for me.

The PRO-163 is by no means top of the line when it comes to Triple Trunking Scanners, but it's value is unsurpassed. It does have text tags, but is limited in the number of memory channels and more importantly, Talk Group IDs. It uses the more archaic and rigid bank/channel memory architecture, so memory management is restricted with compared with the Uniden BCT15.RadioShack as in their usual fashion has stripped down this scanner, giving you just enough to plug it in and hear "something" right out of the box. RS is the king of selling you the bare minimum and then charging you outrageous prices for every accessory. Case in point: every modern scanner should be programmed via a PC. They charge about $30 for the programming cable. Uniden includes a programming cable. Uniden also writes their own programming software, albeit crappy and pricey. RS didn't even bother, they rely on you to find and purchase third party software. Additionally, this scanner, and every RS scanner for that matter, cannot be used in conjunction with a PC while it is scanning. PC interface is for programming only. Now for the PROS:1. Low Cost - the Unidens cost easily twice as much. So for anyone who wants a fairly capable scanner on a budget - this is the one.2. Receives Military Air Comms and the 700 MHz bands.3. Although the manual lacks a bit, this unit is relatively easy to program and operate.4. Overall good to great performance for a scanner. It has just enough bells and whistles to make listening enjoyable, while not over complicating simple concepts. If you can live with some of the memory restrictions mentioned above, this is a great scanner at an amazing price.

This is a great scanner. Does what I was wanting it to do. Was a little hard to program and may not have all the trunking done right, but it seems to be working.

This scanner is old technology and is for analog tracking, not digital tracking, and it can not work with the more modern method of digital trunking. Essentially if it works with your system today it won't work within a year ot two. You would do better with the newer yet more expensive digital trunking scanners available from Radio Shack or other dealers. Digital scanners will still pull in analog signal while providing room to grow into the digital world

The Radioshack Pro-163 that I recieved was not new. The item was used with scratches on the unit. You can tell also on how it was repack. Need to check this buyer out before you buy. Also read that others have had the same problem.

Excellent scanner ! I ordered this used, and within 5 minutes it was up and running. The manual isn't very long, it took a couple of attempts to understand how things worked, but nothing drastic. Like I said, it was up and running within around 5 minutes.I'll have to get in touch with the seller, because their seems to be a slight problem with the volume. If I turn it past 1/2 way, there is a high pitched squeal. I'm new to scanners, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.Other than the volume, this is an awesome setup! I only have 5 or so channels that I like to scan, so I don't see any need for the computer connection kit.
