was very disappointed when i opened the package only to find this " foam blocks" are so much smaller than expected and they do not fit over the railing of my canoe. had to go out and buy bigger blocks.

As above, I used it one time, then threw it out. Buy a good roof rack instead.

I originally thought the orange straps were ratchets, not some sort of clamp/clasp, but it still worked. I think the foam blocks could be stiffer too. So far, I've used the system once, and it worked to carry an 18ft Cedar Strip canoe.

Their measurements are accurate on the site, but I don't know why they are so thin. They need an extra in of padding for most cars that are curved on top. I gave them 5 stars because they are exactly what was described, but measure what you need before you buy. Straps are good quality.

Easy solution to what I needed. Read other reviews to see if good for you. Held canoe on a mid-sized car just fine. Seems cheap but works.

I have a Jeep Patriot and was debating to get cross rails for my roof rack. The issue with a small suv is roof racks are almost useless for transportation of long items other than giving secure tie down points - This product allowed me with the foam blocks to put a canoe on the roof much more stable than i think close cross bars would have been. I did but separately "Sherpack Quick Loops " for a tie down points behind the tailgate - and for long transportation i put a heavy duty ratchet tiedown in the middle of the canoe using the roof rack. For every day short trip transportation this product is great- the quality and craftsmanship of material is top-notch - far exceeded my expectation for the price. I was really just looking for the blocking under the canoe - but the price of this with tiedowns, rope and hooks with carrying case is a bargain. This allowed me to safely and securely travel about 240 miles mostly at highways speeds with no concerns or issues.

Bought a canoe with free shipping to REI and had to transport the canoe to our home approx 5 miles away without the need to use the freeway. The straps were excellent, it has more straps than all the other kits. The orange straps can be used for both front and back parts of the canoe and hook to a standard Honda 2012 Accord. It also has a black strap for the middle of the canoe. We even use the webbing to strap the canoe to the ceiling of our garage. The one criticism is that the foam blocks were significantly depressed during the 5 mile trip and some screw heads on the gunwales almost touched the roof of our car (no roof racks). No damage to the car but sliced swimming pool noodles would have been effective too. Excellent stuff except for the foam pads which are average to below average.
