This is a good toy for a kid, and fun to plink on if you’re an adult but I wouldn’t get this if you want a good rain drum. The tuning is ok and can be adjusted a little bit.

5 of the 6 notes seem "tonal" or at least to blend well. The lowest note is kind of out of whack compared to the rest. There are some instructions about how to file or adjust the pitch, but I'm likely to leave it as-is rather than risk ruining the finish.The kindergartener this was intended for has been enjoying it. However, the instructions and numbering that came with the drum make it pretty impossible to actually play any songs intentionally. The instructions include songs with listings of the numbered tongues to play, but the numbers don't match up - instructions show 0-5, while the drum shows 1-5 and the letter "i". I'm assuming i=0, but why it wouldn't match up is beyond me. More importantly, the songs listed are in SUCH A TINY FONT that young kids with typical eyesight are unlikely to be able to read it. Even as an adult with 20/20 vision, I had to hold it close and squint.The bag is nice for storage, and the mallet is effective without being too loud.The drum itself is reasonably pleasant and entertaining for our kid. But, the problems with the instructions and the labeling would've been so easy to catch in a quality control check that it's kind of baffling how it got this far.

I got this rain drum for my classroom as something to make noise for an attention getter. I think that this serves that purpose well as the sound is quite loud and noticeable. I think that getting the sound to be clear takes a little bit of practice as you need to hit the drum at a precise spot otherwise the sound is a muffled. Overall, I think this is a fun instrument. It is certainly well made and feels like a high quality instrument despite it being designed for kids to use.

It's cute and pocket sized. The notes are clear and can be played loudly or very softy. I've been using it in my group space to get the kids attention and it works. they all look at me after just a few notes. It's very soothing though when played endlessly it's very annoying.

First off, this instrument's five notes are "numbered" with four numbers and one letter! Hw illogical! It is hard to figure out what the tuning should be to begin with--yet they tell you to press on (or file) the tongues to adjust the tone. Then they give you some alleged songs to play. This is not an awesome instrument for very young children. It is tiny--and the instructional booklet that comes with it is, for all intents and purposes, even tinier! I had to photograph pages of it and blow them up in order to attempt to understand the unknown tuning. I do not understand why this is called Rain Drum for Outside. Why outside? The listing does show one picture of rain splashing on it...and it also has a plugged hole in the bottom so maybe it sounds pretty if rain hits it--and then you drain it through the hole. I enjoy the fact that it comes with it own little carrying bag. I collect percussion instruments, which is why this interested me, but it has a lot of issues.

My kids (and husband) love this! They have been fighting over it for over a week now. The sound is clear, and they loved that a book with song/music ideas was included! (The book fits in the included storage bag too, which is helpful)It is very small, but the product listing was really clear about the size, so that’s no fault to the product/company!

This is our second rain drum. I got these for my yard. My teen percussionist yoinked these out of my hands SO FAST. She loves playing both so much. This one is much smaller than the other, but is still so cute. Love the little mallet and music book! Very high quality rain drum, I'm only sorry I can't speak to the actual rain aspect of it haha.
