This is not my first steel drum but it is the nicest one I own. The tone is superior, the finish is flawless, and the color is beautiful. It is an excellent value compared to what you will find in a music shop or a tourist destination. Highly recommended.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift. When it was delivered to me, I just had to open the box and try it for myself prior to giving it. What quality! It's got a great color, weight, and feel to it. And the sound is so beautiful! I really only purchased it as a rain drum knowing the recipient of this beautiful gift wouldn't actually play it as an instrument, but it makes such a beautiful sound using the little mallet sticks on it. After testing it out, I ended up ordering one for myself. I look forward to hearing how it sounds when the rain falls on it.

This rain drum is a beautiful art piece and functional addition to any space. It offers calming, spiritual sounds for meditation, relaxation, or simple enjoyment. It also comes with accessories to help me to learn how to play it. Love the music book and those accessories. If you have not experienced the soothing sounds of a rain/steel tongue drum in your life yet, please do yourself or someone you care about a favor and order one of these!The Sannofair Rain Drum is great quality and was in tune right out of the box! We ordered the 6 inch model with the full 8 note scale so that we can learn to play familiar melodies on it. Keep in mind the volume level does increase slightly with the size of the instrument, however, the warm tone of this instrument will likely not make you regret giving it to a child (unlike a screeching recorder or a loud electronic keyboard that plays pre-recorded kid tunes). This drum has more features and accessories than similar rain drums I've purchased recently at this price point. The powdercoat finish is evenly textured in a soothing speckled green. The grippy rubber feet allow the user to securely place it on a flat surface and keep the sound resonating through the middle of the instrument. The removable rubber plug on the base allows it to be used in a garden as a rain drum without it filling with water. We were excited to try the fingertip taps for the first time, and they do help! This instrument also comes with two wooden mallets, a mallet holder, and a sturdy canvas bag to carry and store all the pieces.The only thing I would note is that the number stickers might come off eventually, particularly if it is used as a rain drum. The kit does have two additional sets of number stickers if that happens, though.I love the idea of having this small, portable instrument available in a calming corner either at home or in a classroom. It would make a wonderful attention signal in a classroom, as well. We would recommend this item to others!
