I recently purchased this diverter kit. I found that it was very straightforward to install. I also like that it stays put when not in use.

Seriously what am I missing here. Install is straight forward, however, for the life of me, I CANNOT get the lower end of this unit into my drain pipe!!! Pipe opening is 4 3/8" x 3 1/8". Smaller opening of the diverter is 3 5/8" x 3". I know I know, dimensionally it should go......but not this one. Any ideas on how I can get this to work? Should I crimp the diverter bottom? The larger opening (top) slips right in. Considering sending it back and looking for a different one, ugh.

I saw another review that said this but it was just one, so I took a chance. Big mistake. Job took hours and FAILED. I have now ordered a "real one" from thegreatamericanrainbarrel, where I should have purchased from to begin with.Thankfully I have been able to prop it up to get through the storms until the "real one" arrives, but it is barely sitting in place.TOTAL FRUSTRATION - WASTE OF TIME - WASTE OF MONEY

It needs to be 1/16 of an inch smaller.

I have a huge garden and hate watering it...... but a rain barrel with an irrigation system attached to it really makes for lazy gardening and I LOVE IT! This gutter diverter is the staple to a great working rain barrel since it is the way for water to enter the barrel. It was easy to install and worked right away since we got a good rain the day of installation.

I have a downspout that empties into our flower bed. That said, sometimes the water needs to be diverted elsewhere. This does the job, but not all of the rain is diverted. I added a plastic lip to cover the gap that remains in the back of the flap when turned down.I saw a complaint that it does not fit, but you just need to flatten the metal a bit to give it clearance.
